United Mechanics Contract

And on top of it both UA and CO mechanics were both represented by the IBT, and it still took over five years.

The deal provides for a 25 percent raise for United's highest-earning technicians, to $46.15 per hour, according to an email the company sent employees and seen by Reuters. It also includes an offer for a $100,000 buyout for at least some workers and furlough protection.

Just got off the phone. This is not, I repeat not a TA. Apparently this is the company's last and final offer and the union is bringing it to a vote without a recommendation. Word is it's not a good offer therefore the union will not recommend a yes vote. Sadly, the ibt is slow to put anything out in response to the company's claim that this is a TA. Confusion as usual. Will keep you posted.

From our VP of Maintenance:

Company reaches agreement with IBT
I am pleased to announce that during the current negotiation session we were able to reach agreement with the IBT to put out a proposed JCBA for ratification. This industry-leading contract includes a 25 percent pay increase in technician top-out rates to $46.15 per hour at date of signing and a 33 percent increase over the life of the contract, a $100,000 voluntary early out offer, an $80 million dollar signing bonus pool, furlough protection, as well as wage resets in the event the industry moves above United’s pay and benefit offerings, not only during the life of the contract but also beyond the amendable date if a successor agreement is not reached in a timely fashion.

Ok its Deltas new hourly rate. Im  basically ok with it except the bonus is too low considering the 3 years since our last contract became amendable.

The bonus pool is 80 mil compared to the last pilot agreement when the company wrote off something like 450 million on a quarterly result for pilot lump sum. Theres a lot less mechanics than pilots and and they ought to give at least half of what the pilot lump sum pool was.

It should be full retro, not bonus. But then again, they can move the numbers around to give you the same result. I agree, larger bonus. My fear is what are we giving away?

Oh yeah, the pilots also received another $150m just for having a seniority integration agreement in place. What did we get?

From the IBT:

The International Brotherhood Teamsters today announced an agreement to put a proposed joint contract out for ratification for members working at United Airlines. The deal, if approved, would cover the company’s aviation maintenance technicians and related workers.
The proposed contract would combine the subsidiary groups of workers formerly associated with Continental and Continental Micronesia with United. In all, more than 9,000 technicians and related employees would be covered under the single agreement.
The IBT and United worked under the guidance of the National Mediation Board to conclude the negotiations. Details of the proposed agreement will be released shortly. Voting on the contract will begin within one to two weeks.

I hope it is something reasonable for you guys. You certainly deserve it. Pulling for you guys here at AA. Good luck.

Thanks dvlhog212,  I hope you guys get a deal quick I think your groups are in a worse situation than us at UA-CO.

But talking to some of my coworkers today leads me to believe that the low bonus pool will prevent this from passing.

Wrong - our current agreement became amendable in 2013 - we haven't been in JCBA negotiations for over five years.

Voting will begin within one to two weeks? - And they aren't going to give it a recommendation?

It'll take one to two weeks just to do road shows, so this is obviously going to be a cram down of a crap agreement and the ibt doesn't want to give anyone real time to go through it.

Well I hope my fellow mechanics do their due diligence and read ALL of the TA, we'll soon see.
