United to merge with US AIRWAYS rumor

rumors are starting to fly again
This is the crap that ALPA National and US AIrways Tempe feeds boneheads like xxxx edited by moderator

It is designed to lay the groundwork for the "Don't dump ALPA" cause. The Company needs this seniority list so there will be no labor revolt against a U-UA marriage. If the senior U guys were to be a threat to the career expectations of the UA group, there could be serious labor unrest that might derail a merger (a la' Delta).

ALPA has allowed the weakest pilot group in the country to get hosed in order to minimize the threat of dues interruption even during massive consolidation.

Just watch, the "Better think twice before you dump ALPA" rhetoric will increase in intensity, mostly from the "useful idiots" like edited by moderator

Personal attacks & use of names will get you a trip to the cornfield....Edward

Yes. Same relationship as Lex Luther and the bumbling idiot Otis. Amusing to say the least. And I really dig the changing aliases. Wow, had me fooled...not.

I consider a UA/USA merger highly unlikely but if it does come to pass you heard it here first: I shall accept ALPA Merger Policy come what may. Yes, you may quote me.

Is there anything spelled out in the HP, US and UA pilot contracts that would make integration go any smoother than what we've seen with US/HP? Wouldn't we have all the UA pilots insisting on DOH, which would effectively put the US pilots (and HP, by extension) at the bottom of the list...

There's probably not another airline whose pilots have as much average longevity as US (East). At most or all of the legacies, the senior US furloughee would probably be a wide-body captain. So the chances of any potential merger partner's pilots wanting to integrate by DOH is nil....

Anything is possible for this airline. If the stumbling drunks in Tempe see a couple of million dollars in their pockets they will buy a lottery ticket with someone else's money.

That is their vision of success. Running an airline is a long gone hallucination remembered only by the people who care about customers.

Tim Nelson...

Actually, you MAY be on to something here. I have a close friend well connected to UAL AFA and they have heard many rumblings in the last few weeks on this very subject.

Guess time will tell.

If they do merge , I would not be suprised to see a return to BK for UAL by the merging carrier prior to any merge deal...since it is probably a matter of time for them anyway since they continue to lose $$$ and yields and fule $$$ are not improving this year anyway!!!

Why does it have to be UA going back into BK? Why not US? That seems to be the direction Tempe is taking this company these days. We can't continue much longer operating like this. We're in a tailspin with no one at the controls.
