The title of this thread notes the overhaul of "only 10" buses. It's worth noting, for those who don't want to read the link that 10 are the only ones due for overhaul. Might as well say ALL buses due heavy checks will be outsourced; it's the same 10.

Ten is just a start. They are trying to ease it in. Wake up. The war has begun. No more management lies.

--There will be layoffs. Maybe not for the first ten, but after that one would be foolish to think otherwise.

Yeah no lay offs for now, I am sure its a reason why, like to try to force IAM"s hand to strike eventhough no lay offs this time, to make the IAM look like a jack*** if they walk over this, then U goes to the feds crying foul?

I hope they do good work. Other major airlines seem to do it without many of them falling out of the sky.
"without many of them falling from the sky"....... How reassuring...

When was the last time a commercial jet airliner in the U.S.A. crashed as a result of the failure of an outside contractor?

In January, in CLT. Maybe last month of Nantucket, waiting for the NTSB on that one.

Read my question again....

When was the last time a commercial jet airliner in the U.S.A. crashed as a result of the failure of an outside contractor?

Turbine? The -1900 in CLT, unless I'm mistaken.

Does the ValueJet disaster count?

Does Valujet ring a bell?
Yes. Then, how many commercial jet crashes have there been that were attributed to in-house maintenance?

Does Alaska Air ring a bell?

In any event, VJ was a result of the improper labeling of materials, not something mechanical per se.

There will be no war. The IAM knows that this is only a minor dispute. We can now look forward to a bright future. The IAM members must decide if they are willing to risk the future of every employee group over 10 aircraft. This is a win-win situation for the entire company.
