What's new

US in not the only US carrier with ratty 737's !

I realize this might belong on the UA board but I saw this UA 735 last week and could not believe the condition of the paint. They must use the same paint vendor as US.

I noticed paint chipping off of an A320 and the old America West paint was under the new. They must have just painted over the old livery.

Although I wouldn't put it past them, I find it hard to believe considering how much extra weight there would be by simply painting over the old scheme instead of removing the paint first. That is a lot of unnecessary weight which translates into unnecessary fuel burn.

Thats not a bad paint job, it is simply United's new Rocky Mountain motif!

A few years ago some new regulations came out regarding aricraft paint. It had something to do with the ecolgy. The result was a bunch of peeling paint on aircraft.

Maybe this is the same deal.

It looks like it wasn't paying attention to the maximum height before entering the tunnels.

There several new paint AWA planes that have certain parts replaced with old paint parts: engine cowlings and a panel above the wing root are what I've noticed. I'm certain the old paint is stripped before new paint is applied.

We will use N663AW as an example. Inspected it the other day and found chipped paint over various locations of the aircraft revealing an old AWA paint job. Take a looky-see when you get the chance.

Just saw a B733 in new colours the other day in LAS.....looked good. I am NO fan of the 737 (esp the -300) but the scheme did look nice on the a/c.
