Hope you got your letter about US Airway's new reading program. Books will be on board all flights.

i have to disagree with you on that piney. this is community relations getting involved in important issues affecting many children out there which literacy is one of them. we all know that things are not hunky dory at usairways but that dosen't mean we can't get involved with the communities we serve.I too think it's a very nice thing to do.
However, one must question the timing of the announcement. IMO This is nothing more than another cheap shot at Employees and Elite Customers designed to deflect the easily distracted media from the real issues facing US AIrways.

Piney, I agree with you. This is nothing more than US Airways trying to paint itself in a good light. Do you think a company that treats employees and customers the way they do would really care about literacy. They don't care about anything excpept making money and trying to make themselves look good.I too think it's a very nice thing to do.

be careful, mark you calendar...we AGREE!!How about if we take it for face value.
Its is harmless at worst and a good thing at best.
I can understand the cynical reaction but not everything has an ulterior motive.
I'm glad and I agree with your post.be careful, mark you calendar...we AGREE!!
regardless of intentions or motivations, promoting literacy is admirable!! this is an incredible program and i am grateful to those responsible for its coneption!! bravo!!
Had to add my two cents on THIS ONE. I agree with the comment made above along with Piney. I personally feel the entire "Do Crew" Program is nothing more that Corporate Window Dressing to give the appearance of a Warm & Fuzzy Feeling for the communities they serve......and all for Appearance Stakes. When I saw the topic of a Children's Reading Program though, the first person I thought that needed a crash course tutorial is that one female who babbles/stumbles/mispronounces and sounds like a certifiable idiot on US Daily. For anyone who has ever called in YOU know who I am referring too. And IF she has a position in Corporate Communications.........that's par for the course. (But I'm sure some will say "She's REAL Nice or Is a Lot of Fun". Bottomline, the bimbo CAN'T READ and shouldn't be reading Corporate NEWS!)Piney, I agree with you. some of you amaze me sometimes.Sorry, folks. I can't get on board with this. Whereas raising literacy awareness is a good thing, it's not where an airline should spending its resources.
US Airways needs to be improving its product to the exclusion of all else until it gets it right. After that is completed can they go on to help the rest of us learn to read, clean up the environment, support charities and the like.
These distractions will continue to plague the chances of success, unless success is no longer the goal. Most of you know what my opinion is on that subject.
Let me get this straight- this is an evil corporate plot to smoke screen the media to ignore US operational statistics AND to sink the presumed future success of the U.These distractions will continue to plague the chances of success,
thank you .Let me get this straight- this is an evil corporate plot to smoke screen the media to ignore US operational statistics AND to sink the presumed future success of the U.
Many charities accept money from questionable people-does it make the contribution any less useful?
Sometimes people aren't happy unless they are complaining and that means a lot here since complaining is a "sport" in PHL.
Geez- the NBA has multi millionaires reading to kids. We all know this is crap but does it help kids?
Probably-when the check gets cashed.
