One of the interesting parts for us locally is....
-- Increasing staffing to reinforce customer assistance, specifically:
-- Adding staff in airport lobbies to help customers quickly navigate
through the airport process.
-- Increasing the number of agents available to help customers who are
checking in using our self-service kiosks.
-- Placing additional staff at baggage belt induction points to help
move bags to airplanes quickly and accurately.


We are currently 8 people short of where we were starting back before the big hiring push for the summer ( 3 FT and 5 PT). We have another one going out next week for maternity leave for 3 months. We cant hire anyone in case someone from PIT wants to come down in Jan (any takers for the 3 FT EOS?) So we are stuck. They decided to temporarily upgrade 4 part timers for a total of 3 weeks (Dec 17 - Jan6). Thats the big added staffing for my station. No "EXTRA" help, not even getting us up to normal staffing, but everything is going to run smoothly we're told. Even if they hired 8 off the street tomorrow we're looking at at least mid Feb to get thru the screening and training process. Yep, gonna be another fun holiday season. :down:
 
Yeah, I read that pamplet by the people at SKYHARBOR airport. That means they are going to have more old folks in those purple jackets and cowboy hats. Man those people have to be in their 80's!

If this union stuff doesn't work out for ya, theres a nice retirement! I'm lookin at you Oriole! ^_^ cmon! Where are my boys from justplanenews.com at!?!

As one of those JPN oldtimers, I'd volunteer to help out the folks at HP in BOI. During the slack time we could talk about two western "upstart airlines" that cared, HP & PS. Thats about the only job available around here when anyone finds out you're "ex-airline".

Shouldn't this be stuff they should be doing normally? Good God are these people the kings of sping. I am sure in reality, none of it will be followed.

Do you think this was just meant for PHX? Because we too will be in dire straights for the season and then after when some get furloughed....I don't believe anything that comes out anymore....
 
I've seen NOTHING in Clt. If they are doing anything it's stealth. My gut feeling is we will be shorter than ever as new hires are leaving or being fired.(We even had one come in drunk to bid) Also people have already worked overtime & got their money while it was slow. So now they will refuse the overtime & this stuff(if it's true) is dependant on overtime.
 
The thread title should be,

What are they gonna use for extra staff?? Blow up dolls from the local porn shops?
