as soon as all the cutting is implemented we mechanics should replace the iam and renegociate our contract. 🙂

You mean in 2011 or is it 2012? Isn't that when the contract expires? You can't re-negotiate anything, unless of course the company comes back for more cuts and the concession stand isn't closed.

You need union members first to have a union. The IAM is only is as weak as its members. Bunch of sissy's!

-The only thing worse than the IAM is the majority of its membership.

--Awe now lets have a pitty party.

PSA's right, no matter what union you bring on the property your stuck with your current contract. BUT ... if you do decide to bring on another organization to represent you the next time the company comes back for more concessions it'll be the responsibility of your new union leadership to get you the best contract possible than you complain about how crappie that union is and what a $hitty job their doing

or we could of had a union that could have negogiated a better deal than what we all iam memebers got, particularly the ones in the class two cities and the former mainline express cities. and as for sissys' i can tell you that there are many fine iam members and all this poster was saying is we need to get rid of the union. nothing wrong with himher posting their own opinion but i do disagree about the you saying iam members are a bunch of sissys

There is another option... Some AGW supporters have already hinted at this.

It would involve a decertification vote, followed by a year of non-representation, and then a representation election.

Assuming a widely supported decertification action takes about three-six months, and a representation drive takes a minimum of three-six months, the earliest a new contract could possibly be in place would be two to three years.

A year of being non-union there will be no one left to vote in a union after the company repeats what happened in 1992.

And the both negotiating committees tried to reach a deal with the company, the company had NO intention of EVER reaching a deal. The company wanted what they wanted and how they wanted it.

Trust me I know from first hand experience.

The M&R group gave the company a proposal worth $282,000,000 per year and the company flat out refused it.

Maybe you should all realize that neither group could have brought back a contract that eliminates 21% of the ramp and 50% of the M&R groups.

These final offers that the weak fish membership voted in are not Tentative Agreements, they were final offers.

If you ever expected anything better, maybe all you "YES" voters should grow a backbone first.

Since all is said and done now maybe the union should pull back the curtain and show us what went on behind the scenes and show us this phantom proposal we keep hearing about. The one that the on Jan 5th the IAM was so confident that the company would climb aboard they issued this release

To: US Airways Mechanic and Related Employees and Maintenance Training Specialists

Your Negotiation Committee and Representatives from the Grand Lodge, our financial advisor and Legal Counsel continued negotiations with the Company on Monday, Jan 3, 2005. This morning, Jan 5, 2005, we offered a resolution to the Company addressing all of the issues involved. We believe this resolution provides the means for the survival of this Company and also provides for your future job security.

Based on the above, we expect the Company will sign the agreement this afternoon. This agreement is subject to your approval and we expect Judge Mitchell to grant us the time necessary for ratification.

Your continued support has made this possible. We will continue to keep you advised of all future developments as they occur.

Wishing you a better new year" end quote

Also you say all along "the company had NO intention of EVER reaching a deal" then why would the IAM put out the above release?

I am sorry I agree with you that the company never wanted to come to terms. So it stands to reason that was a smoke and mirrors bogus release by IAM and/or shady deals were going on behind scenes

Because after that happened is when the Negotiating Committee realized the company had no intention of ever reaching a deal.

And if you would like to see it, go ask Bill H since you work in the hangar or go to the local lodge and ask GC Tony G and you know how to contact me.

Why is it so secretive? You were there spell it out for us.

I never publicly said I work in hangar or at USAirways.

I believe you did.

Mr O'Driscoll made the decision that if anyone wants to see it they may ask, but the IAM was not going to mass produce it.

Never, I have said I know who you are but never said I worked at USAirways.

I am not asking for a mass produced copy I am asking you to divulge the contents on it. You have never had any problem doing it before on here. What is there for the IAM to hide?

Like I said, if you want to see it use the method I posted.

Heh!..........Is this another one of those "best contract in the industry" deals? At least you can maybe still afford to have the nicest trailer in the park.
