I noticed in the IAM Final offer thread that the EZ hour is being eliminated. What is an EZ hour?

My guess is that its the same as what the TWU gave away, only it was called a penalty hour.

If the employee is required to work beyond his punch out time, just to finish off a job, he would get paid for the entire hour as worked even if he was done 15 minutes into the hour. He could punch out but would still be paid.

Thanks for the responses. So what does the elimination of the EZ hour mean? Would you only get paid for the time worked instead of the entire hour?

Within the CWA group, the EZ hour was an additional hour of overtime if you were not notified in writing that you would be required to work overtime before the end of your shift. I think the time frame was 2 hours prior to the start of of the manditory overtime, if not, you automatically were paid an additional one hour ot on top of actual time that was worked. This, of course, was eliminated in the latest contract.
