If they believe that they need a plane fast, I imagine it will have to come from a leasing company. They probably figure that and would soak up the cost. Even if the lease is for 4-5 years until they can get delivery of a sufficient aircraft, the fee may be worth paying. I do believe that they can't sit and wait and let everything continue to pass them by. I think its foolish already not having it by now.You cannot order a widebody today from Boeing or Airbus and get it in a year.
Your original post says ORDER as does the name of the thread, not leasing.
Just replying to YOUR use of the word order.
I believe 700UW was pertaining to my opening sentence. I edited it out. Sorry for the misread. :unsure:Sorry 700UW I ment "anyway" US could get ahold of wide-bodies. Just wondering when an anouncement might come.
I figure they will get Republic to use the E-175's, withIf US is awarded the China route, US must already have an order placed so that the route can begin in late 2008. When do you guys think that an order will be made? At the same time the narrow-bodies will be placed?
If true, that's some salient news that hasn't filtered over to this knowledgeable group for comment. Why would AC dump two perfectly good, relatively new, widebodies instead of re-allocate them?I actually saw on another website, that we may get 2 A340-500s in June from Air Canada when their first 777s come in.

P.S> US must have been planning this for atleast a few months, why not but the ex Varig 777s? I know atleast one is being scrapped in a few weeks.
