MCI TRANSPLANT:

Somewhat of a the same scenario exists art JFK between the AAers and the TWAers. You are right, there are two sides to every story.

There are more than two sides. There is a side for every person involved.

The JFK TWAers have been discussing their lawsuit since they started arriving at JFK 4 years ago.

Well as much as I've been around them I havent heard much about the lawsuit. Usually we talk about the things we have in common as workers.

When they get one more assignment than the other guy, they run to human resources that they are being treated unfairly.

Some people are still very upset about the whole deal with taking over TWA and some of those people may even be crew chiefs who may or may not knowingly pound some of these guys. As far as I'm concerned we should concentrate on getting rid of the TWU so we can restore our profession. Let it go already.

Let me tell you how unfairly TWAers are being treated. Last week a group of TWAers hit an aircraft causing damage while towing into hangar.

GUESS WHAT?
NO INVESTIGATION, BOI, REPRIMAND,,,,,NOTHING!
DO YOU KNOW WHY, MCI TRANSPLANT?????????????????

BECAUSE THERE ARE ALREAYD LAWSUITS FILED WITH HUMAN RESORCRES AND THE EEOC AGAINST AA BY FORMER TWAERS ABOUT UNFAIR TREATMENT. AND AA DOESN'T WANT TO ROCK THE BOAT ANY FURTHER!

Not to defend the company(just ask Former Moderaator) but I dont think thats the case. Its not the first time that an aircraft has been damaged without discipline. The supervisor was apparently satisfied with the explanation given at the scene of the accident.

THEY DON'T CLAIM DISCRIMINATION WHEN A FORMER TWA SUPERVISOR TAKES THE COMPANY VAN AND PICKS THEM UP AT LGA AFTER THERE WEEKLY STL COMMUTE! AND THEN HE SIGNS THEM IN AFTER MIDNIGHT..
YEP, TWO SIDES TO EVERY STORY!

Well perhaps their flight was delayed and they had a big workload for the night so the supervisor felt it was in the best interest of the company, and the customers who were to fly out the next morning to get them to work as quickly as possible. While being picked up with the company van may be unusual, it also may be that it was the only vehicle big enough if there were several guys from STL stuck on the same flight. Since a large number of the JFK night shift is from STL and MCI there is good reason to maintain goodwill and flexibility. Lets not forget that these guys can not afford to relocate permanently and are trying to support their families while commuting 1000 miles each way. We often blast guys from low cost areas because they are insensitive to what we face, its hypocritical if we then treat these guys with the same insensitivity that we complain about. Teat them fairly because "there but for the grace of God go I". Treat them fairly then hopefully when they return to wherever they came from there will be someone there who can let the rest know what we face and maybe they will realize that its not fair for them to expect us to live off what they are prepared to accept there.

MCI, once again, not to defend the company, but on the issue of occupational seniority, the company left up to the TWU. In reality they had no choice, they could not legally dictate to the TWU how you were blended in as far as occupational seniority.

The company did give you full company seniority with all your sick time and vacation accrual. The company treated you better than the TWU.

You can blame the company for shrinking MCI, but logically should they have shrunk the brand new state of the art facility at AFW instead?

Hopeful and MCI Transplant, how is the banter between you two going to ever lead to improvements for any of us? The fact is that we really didnt have any say in the fact that we were to be put together. It was a shotgun wedding for both sides. Why blame each other instead of the people who were holding the shotguns?

Bob, they get picked up quite often by supervisor G--- S------in the white knight.............

Do you think there will be any improvement for any us while the TWA people still have their class action lawsui to get full seniority?

Bob, I know you would have been more than happy for them to get FULL seniority as long as it meant AMFA was here!

Why don't you ask the laptop TWAer, T-- R------- for an update on the lawsuit?

<_< You mean those lawsuits are still in the works? 😉 And yes, I do realise there are two sides to every story! And I'm not just talking the seniority issue! But what's really sad is aa could have avoided a lot of this! They discriminated ( segragated) us from day one! By assigning all exTWA employees with a payroll number that starts with the number "6", forever labeling us in all aa transactions! It's like beeing branded with a large TWA on our forehead! :huh:
[post="284725"][/post]
MCI, when I was hired with hundreds of others in MIA, we were all issued employee numbers that began with the number 3. I believe that when AirCal and Reno were acquired those people were assigned employee numbers which started with the same number. I have also seen people junior to the TWAers (hired after 4/10/01) whose employee numbers start with a 6. There is no conspiracy or marking of the TWA people.

As for the lawsuits, they are all without merit and will fail like all the rest have. The TWAers just need to accept the arbitrator's decision as the nAAtives have done and stop crying like a bunch of little girls.

I dont think that there will be any improvement for any of us as long as we have the TWU. As far as seniority I have more than I expected at my age but as far as money I have much less than I expected at this age. I would trade one for the other. If SWA were to offer me a position at ISP I would not hesitate.

While I enjoy a high seniority number its the number of dollars in my paycheck that I'm most concerned with. As I've stated many times, and given the reason why I felt that way I do not feel that under the conditions in place that the TWA guys got an unfair deal from the workers.

Why don't you ask the laptop TWAer, T-- R------- for an update on the lawsuit?

I really have no interest in it.

If they won and I had to go to nights I would quit as soon as my wife graduated and got a job.Right now this place is a dead end with no hope for improvement. Fighting the TWA guys certainly does no introduce hope, it just leads to more fustration. We need to focus on getting rid of the company union and uniting the whole profession. If we cant even unite with our coworkers what chance do we have of a broader alliance?

A point that is more relevant and broad-based than most of what has been said on the subject.

There does appear to be a system to the first digit on employee numbers...

0 = anything prior to Aircal
1 = Aircal, 1996 thru 1990
2 = barely used. Skychefs???
3 = South America, 1990 thru 1994
4 = 1994 thru 1997
5 = Reno Air, 1997 thru 2001
6 = TWA, 2001 thru current

Having the 600K series number simply means you were brought onboard on or after 2001. It doesn't mean you're a former TW employee, although there is a chance that you could be, just like anyone in the 100K series could be a former Aircal employee. But there are more non-Aircal people in the 100K series, and eventually there will be more non-TWA people in the 600K series once we get back to hiring.

Who's fighting?
The TWAers are the ones with the ongoing lawsuits!

Preach to them about uniting!

Just how many TWAers are left?

No f/a's and 4-500 pilots. AMT's and others?

I would estimate between 4,000 to 5,000 TWAers currently at AA. This includes all groups. This number changes over time due to retirements, layoffs, recalls, etc. We will have a better idea when the updated seniority lists come out.

I have seen 1,3,4,and 6 employee numbers at Eagle. All these people started at Eagle and didn't transfer in from some other AMR department.

<_< aaYou may be correct on the payroll number thing, but thank God, as far as any lawsuits, again there is only one opinion that counts, and it's not yours, or mine!!!!

I didn't post the full name as there is no need to, but Bob knows who it is since we work at JFK.
He's the first TWAer to make day-shift and within a week he was complaining to Human Resources and Management that he was being assigned more work than the "AAers."

Funny thing is, his fellow TWAers says he has been a whiner for 36 years, but at TWA they ignored him because there was no mean American Airlines to sue or complain to.

I think he's referring to the list that is due out in August. The TWU fought very hard to get the company to update the seniority lists in February and August!
