Who wants a merger with US?

Do AA employees want to merge with US Airways?

Sorry but our crazy uncle got out of the house again.
"Traitor" is one of our company nut cases. I think now he is telling everyone US should be stapled to the bottom of you list, not one of the well liked pilots here at US, he loves to crap on the junior guys.

Nothing firm. There is a UCC meeting today, and I would imagine that something may come out of that. It may be today, or later this week. I take rumors at stride, but I must admit that this one is coming in from several directions.

Read on the Dallas morning news that Horton is supposed
to address the UCC today to pitch against any mergers for
the time being. So it does seems likely that Parker has been
talking to members of the UCC.
I personally think that a merger is not in the best interest of AA. Not with US. But I have no control of the situation.
We shall see what happens.

I've got a few questions. I have not read through tihis entire thread and I apoligize if it has been covered already. What is the upside for current AA employees from a merger with US? Will it keep the bases open? Will it eliminate or reduce the amount of people laid off from AA? Will there be layoffs from both AA and US due to a merger?
None, No, No and Yes.

Absolutely stay the smallest fish, mergers suck for all employees, this will be our 6th. Now that's just my opinion.
I understand where you are coming from, but I just don't think that being the smallest is going to cut in for the long term.

At least one person at AMR understands. You don't need or want US.

What substantive contribution would US Air provide? 700UW is always saying how great US is and all the wonderful things it will bring AA. I don't want to touch US Air with a ten foot pole.

At the end of the day if the great majority of employees are able to keep their job and some improvements in their wages then it will be a good thing.

As I'm sure you can imagine, I'm not in any position to know what's been going on behind closed doors. One would think that all of the ducks would be lined up prior to taking any actions. It is no longer a secret that Parker has been meeting with the unions at AA, and apparently they have been receptive to his plans. I'm sure the legal boys have been doing their homework, and know what can and needs to be done in order to make it happen. This is all pure speculation, until we see it in print.

I don't get the impression the unions are on board with merging with you as much as they are giving it lip service as a kind of threat to the BOD.

"Back off or we are taking your ball and giving it to the other kid"

I'm all for the more comfortable looking, less professional US uniforms. Although if I had a vote, I would still go for Delta. Once again, only for commuting reasons. I.E. maybe not having to commute. Plus they aren't a complete mess! In the end, I would prefer to stay AA with a NEW and completely different set of Executives with a realistic Business Plan. I know with this group, that is asking too much.

I'm saying that you have a history of making predictions and claims none of which were true.

Luvthe9 thinks it's OK to renege on a mutually agreed upon pilot seniority arbitration, i.e. our USAirways - America West Nicolau Award, because he doesn't like the result.

He's not to be trusted.

Sorry our family feud spread to your board.

I think the unions are completely on board with this. It has come down to absolutely no faith in our executive team. If merging with US. Is the only way to rid ourselves of them, then so be it.

Don't forget the POS Board. They are the ones that allow the Liers and Thieves to continue to be employed. They obviously agree with the immoral way AA conducts business. I.E. Lieing to the employees and stealing with the slight of hand that David Copperfield would be happy with.

I could hardly identify the FA on my recent shuttle flight, they wear tshirts and nametags, same with the agents. You must live in ATL, DTW, SLC, etc. Would you still like DL if it remained non-union?

The US uniform can be professional if worn correctly . Problem is , many don't . I try to look as professional as possible when wearing my uniform . It represents who you are as an employee in my opinion .
