Why is PHX Fleet Service run different than the other Hubs

I've tried to get them to rethink the dues structure, to no avail. We tried as L.L.1852 and as L.L.368. So going after the Internantional takes a lot of politics from the Local and District levels.

I am still trying to get someone to tell me the point of the International, especially if we hire our own attorneys in-house as Mr. Nelson has proposed. I hear about more dues, less ability to control our destiny, and less-than-ideal representation.

Is this a topic that is not suppose to be broached insofar as to question the International?

True but it reads only that the office voted for becomes in valid. Not the whole vote. I heard the DOL has pulled out of the election? My nominations are,nt until The 14th. So I can't verify that until then. The International is a whole other ball game. I've tried to get them to rethink the dues structure, to no avail. We tried as L.L.1852 and as L.L.368. So going after the Internantional takes a lot of politics from the Local and District levels. If you go to the Convention let me knw and I might join you there.I'm not afraid of making a statement.
I heard the same concerning the DOL. Not sure if it's temporary or permanent. I heard the DOL raised some issues concerning nominations and the ND team sort of thumbed their noses. Without ther oversight the process could be open to some under handed dealings. If entire ballots were voided because a person failed to vote for the prescribed number running for a particular office this was either done by mistake or some under handed dealing. I'll let you know about the convention. Gotta go.

Were is the usaviation.com grand poobah of the IAM.With his experience and knowledge he should be able to answer all things IAM

Nominate yourself to go to the International convention and watch. You will be amazed at how they operate. Try to bring up the topic of dues and see what happens. They are so BIG in their minds that the rest of us out here are just a number to them. Remind you of another company(USAirways) that treats their employees as just a number. I believe they should be out in the trenches with the rest of us. I spoke to a lawyer at the International level and he told me to just keep doing what I do. This was for two grievences I have. I believe that I need a lawyer since the have elements of TSA. I as smart as I think I am can not argue with a governnent agency. They listen but refuse to budge. Haveing a lawyer would be nice.

You need to read the Constitution, you cant bring anything up on the floor unless you proposed it and I forget the # of lodges that have to ratify it, before it gets on the agenda for the law committee to review and the delegates vote on it.

And it is virtually impossible to make changes unless the Grand Lodge is in favor of it, not a very democratic process. I have watched it in action.

That was my point.

I agree with you 100%
I originally stated "unobtainable". Impossible? No. But let's be realistic about what we are up against. In the meantime LETS VOTE FOR THE PRESCRIBED NUMBER OF CANDIDATES as directed. The membership needs to know if they choose not to, their vote is considered "void", for all other candidates they voted for pertaining to that particular office. I believe many members, who are not actively engaged, don't realize this. Could be a failure of the leadership and candidates to educate the voters. Going forward let it be a lesson learned to all.
Respectfully submitted,
ograc

Well said Brother. I have done just that. Engage and educate.

Sorry for the double. My computer can't keep up with me.

Talk to your members. Discuss contractual issues. Keep them informed of grievences. Explain processes. Engage in meetings. Was that a real question?
Additionally, listen to your members, listen to their contractual concerns, listen to their grievances, listen to their questions concerning the officer election process and inform them what needs to be done to vote effectively. Encourage them to engage in the process. Their involvement has a direct effect on the level of representation they can expect to recieve in the future. Too often the majority's fate is dictated by the minority who choose to engage and vote. Every vote counts! Accountability is at hand. It's in their hands. Get out the VOTE!
