What select cities do you think would be logical add on spokes to PHX?

I'm sure they have a few more cities out west to be flown by East crews. The more they do this the more they should consider some sort of separate east crew base flying the same east flying but just originating out there. This will possibly bite them in the rear with bad weather, sick crew members etc. Again, not saying take west flying as it's all contractual but sort of a satellite if you will out west. It would save on hotels too wouldn't it? I mean we hear about keeping a tiny base vs. hotel costs in other cities like BOS and LGA. I'm sure there is a cost savings somehow. Well of course that would take thinking out of the box. When your dealing with people who are constantly trying to reinvent the wheel I guess we are doomed.

Knowing Tempe logic, US will probably see:

PHX-ERI
LAS-PGV
PHX-AHN
LAS-FKL

Or, US could farm it out to Air Midwest and operate a BE1 CLD-PHX-FMN-DDC-SGF-SHV-BHM-CLT-ROA-HGR-BGM-ORH-BOS-BHB. market it as senic coast-to-coast service and charge a premium.

There are probably more cities out west that need to be connected to CLT and PHL first. ABQ, SAT and AUS are the first that come to mind.

My thoughts, exactly. SLC is actually the first that comes to my mind.

PHX already has service to key east cities, what more does it need? I could maybe see CHS, but that is about it.

What in the world are you talking about?

I think the original poster was meaning connecting the dots like how OKC only has service to PHX. Maybe having OKC-CLT or SLC-CLT, SLC-PHL, stuff like that. Nothing about which crews and aircraft flying which route. Good lord don't get that thing going!!

They're lobbying hard to get a waiver for LGA-PHX and LGA-LAS. The Port Authority is resistant, even though other waivers have been granted in the past for service to hub cities beyond the 1000 mile limit. One of the sticking points: the service would have to use 757s due to the short runways and long stage lengths, and that requires extra spacing on approaches and takeoffs due to wake turbulence rules. This would diminish LGA's operational capacity somewhat. I believe the company is offering to use more than one slot for these flights if they can get the waiver for the 1000-mile rule.

Two things-

A mini LAS crew base for east crews would relieve the musical chairs on the east, reduce deadheading for west crews and hotels for east crews, plus reduce senior people going to PHX after the fence is down. Could be exclusive 757 or Airbus base. Win-win for all involved.

Secondly, if US Airways were able to secure perimeter exemptions out of LGA, they would be completely retarded not to use them for non-stop service to LAX and SFO. HP started transcon service to LAX and SFO from JFK IAD and BOS becuase they found the majority of their passengers were continuing on to those two cities... of course they were walloped out of the market because... well, duh, lol... However the opportunity to offer the exclusive non-stop from LGA, combined with (what's left of) US's heavy business presence there, would be a gold mine. Heck, they wouldn't even have to come up with something like UA's PS service or AA's Flagship service they offer from JFK. We could probably get away with our Business Crap-ual thing being the only one in LGA.

PVD-PHX could work. BUF, ORF, RIC, and ALB would be on my list as ones to to look at too.

The only previous waivers granted were for service to/from LGA to a carrier's hub city. Since SFO and LAX are not USAirways hubs cities, the waivers, if granted, would not be valid for those destinations.

Add to that PHL-DSM, PHL-OMA, CLT-ICT, CLT-ABQ
