And I would strongly suggest that you contact NC Unemployment office....you might be shocked what you are told about taken the buy out.

hmmmmmmmm...
So you contacted NC unemployment regarding the buyout, now why would you do that if you have no intention of taking it?

Never said I would not take it...will not take it if this is the T/A that we have to vote on. One needs to remember that management lurks here and what is to stop them from making this version the one we vote on? Refuse to take something that the ones left behind will be getting the screws put to them by the company. BTW contacted NC Unemployment office just after the 2nd round of BK....not during this round of negotiations. I was under the impression prior that if I took any buy out I could then get unemployment and low and behold to my surprise my thinking was incorrect. Now please do not take offense with my comments. Like I said b4 I hate when some info comes out instead of the complete T/A. People react to that dangling carrot which plays right into the hands of management.

I too am a new poster to this website but I was actually the person that started this poll, I was curious to see how my fellow employees felt about the new proposal. I have 15 years service with US and within that time I have been furloughed 6 times from two different ATO's, had to go to MCO RES and then when the closing came there I moved to INT RES. My story I am sure is like many of you out there so needless to say I am ready to hang up my hat here and move on. I have paid my dues with this company as most employees here have but because you would like to take a buyout because you would like to move on with your life does not mean you don't care about your fellow coworkers...So to you MCORORES, I did take offense to your post I wish I could take care of everyone left at US but that is just not possible. I think your blame goes to the wrong people, WE the employees did not create the problems with US..We have done our jobs and stuck by this company but does managment care that you are dedicated and do your job, NO. So for me I say move on, this has gone on too long!!

The agents that are now frothing at the mouth thinking about that so called buyout piddle better stop and think it out before making a rash decision. Wait and listen to all the facts and terms before you make a decision and when you do, think about if the company can be trusted or not and do the math. Believe me in the end if all is explained in black and white I bet the buyout will end up not being such a great deal. Get your tongues back in your mouths and wait for the details.

LMG...I never did blame the employees we all know were the fault lies in the situation we are in. I like you have done my time and have put up with so much you know what. There is a lot of anger in our department and frustration. My point is this....when you have people looking at the carrot dangling in front of them instead of the full menu we as a collected group are no better than management. We then feed management and basically tell them that what they are offering is fine and dandy and no need to go on with the negioations. This is fine is what some posters are telling management. Management does lurk here. What quite a few posters are telling management they would jump on this piece of paper in a heart beat. You have management telling you what a great deal this is fueling the fires to basically ask you to tell CWA enough is enough. This is a good deal so lets take it. The fact of the matter is the deal STINKS and work still needs to be done. Do think we are heading in the right direction but far far from the finish line. Yes all of us in the CWA classification have paid our dues and some more than others. But that does not give anyone the right to screw those that are left behind either willingly or unwillingly. A union is a collective unit and yes majority will rule when it comes down to a vote. As Bobcat stated above lets wait and see what the real deal is and see if it is as promising as some would want it to be got a feeling that after all is said and done some might be surprised.

rumor has it that the verbage about the buyout is that the company can take up to a year to pay it. So what happens if you if vote yes expecting a buyout and you leave your job and get no unemployment, and the company goes chapt 7? If its coming from this company you better look for the strings, smoke, and mirrors. Maybe the new vice pres of employee relations can smooth things over. Looks like Mr Glass couldnt get the job done and needed some help.

Yeah, I want to see more details about the How and when they pay out on the Buy Out....I am so afraid that there will be some fine print that I'd miss like it paid out in 500 dollar Bi-weekly increments, or only after a year of standing on one foot singing the theme song to Shaft, or paid in US Postage Stamps, Maldive Rupiees or Krispy Kreme Gift Certificate or something truly useless like a Nonrefundable/Nontransferable Credit Voucher......

It's sad when you think your company is that devious. crap!!!!!! I hope I did not give them any ideas....

This is exactly the crap Jerry Glass would do. This would be so hilariously funny, except for the fact, the company would see nothing wrong in this type payment. Anyone that takes a company buyout is wise to get the cash up front... <_<

Hawk,
Do you think the so called company will oFFER A better deal??

Wake up..

Under what ROCK DID YOU LURK FROM?

Get real...

If this comes to a vote, i will vote yes. In today's work enviornment, i think this will be the best offer, we could come up with. It's hard to swallow, but it is reality.

You must a new hire...

Yes?
No?

If not a new hire, wait until you've worked here 20 yrs if you last that long..

Think of your retirement...Not just for the moment..
THIS AFFECTS ALL OF OUR RETIREMENTS<..

My good friend works @ CO.Their paycuts are coming in March...

The Plot will thicken...

Golden1,

Not a newhire, but i do understand that we can not stop the company in this enviornment. The compny is in bankruptcy, and i don't think that the contract the judge would,or could impose, would be better. Our customer service jobs, i believe will be gone within 5yrs. The buyout is the best option for many, and a job for those who want to stay for the others.I believe that we are not in a labor friendly enviornment, and the choices for me include vote yes if it comes to a vote, or vote no and have the airline go under. I will choose the best option for me.

you can take your buyout. You'll get no unemployment and it could take up to a year for you buyout money. Then the company will go back into court and take that away from you. I cannot trust the ethics of this company, because there is none. March on in VA Dec 2 !!!!!

Check to see if the company is contesting unemployment claims (which I'm assuming they won't, but that's a dangerous assumption). If they're not contesting, there's no reason that someone taking a buyout wouldn't also qualify for unemployment.

I know that with our last buyout, the payments were stretched out over X months depending on your seniority (which determined the payment), and paid out on the same schedule as paychecks, i.e. someone with three months of severence got six bi-monthly payments on payday). It's a lot less of a hit to cashflow, although there is some risk should they shut down before the last checks are issued.
