What's new

You can take my lanyard, but you can never take my freedom

Do you not understand that the NLRB adminsters the NLRA, it has nothing to do with airlines. That would be the NMB who adminsters the RLA.

And a company can have a uniform policy, been tested in courts.
As long as the union lanyards meet the uniform policy requirements, you should be able to wear them.

And apparently they dont since the company is making the employee remove them.

What I heard was a west captain kicked an east F/A that was wearing a yellow safety first lanyard off the F/A jumpseat, so the company said enough.

There may have been a tipping point, but I do not believe this is a one incident got to make a policy thing.

Believe it or not, certain West pilots have been soliciting for a uniform policy to bring and end to the lanyard/badge backer fiasco that has inundated the line.

Everything from "Catfish" to "usapa=$(@&" and every MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL team in between can be strung around necks and put behind IDs. We have all seen this stuff, plus the stickers adorning jetways and FDMLs.

Should it stop? I personally do not care. I like the immediacy of knowing which side someone is on. Nothing confrontational, just a nice courtesy to know upfront what not to say.

🙄

I'm going to miss those darn yeller lanyards! Everyone will look alike!

I think the bottom line is that they should have just left well enough alone, ignore both east and west lanyards. Whether or not pilots of both sides continue to wear the lanyards is a moot point because from what I have seen and heard what the company has done is to galvanize the pilots over this issue.

regards,

Bob

Galvanized is an understatement. Chippy and traderjake will be proud to see the unity ! Unity that THEY try and destroy. Not this time kool-aide drinkers.

So THAT'S what the execs have been so busy with.... Lanyards!!!.... Hmmmm..... I see.... this translates to effectively running a large airline.

I am sure that this is a very important stepping stone in achieving RCA.... (Reliability, Comfort, and Appearance).

You'll see the results soon... Please... have faith in Isom.

"Maaam, I am sorry that we ran out of food in row 9, but the company DID give us new lanyards. That's what's important. You like 'em?"

Having employees remove their lanyards will do nothing to solve outstanding issues. Nothing at all but create more ill will between employee and company. Keep up the good work and great to see the managerial resources are being used wisely. Maybe we can have a VPLP (Vice President of Lanyard Patrol). Honestly? 🙄

"Create a more professional appearance" has anybody looked around lately.....? Bottom line is USAPA won and got to management!!! Anything againist bright yellow tags on bags.... 🙄

Can you imagine ID lanyards being such a hot button topic at DL? At AA? At any other carrier.
Anything (almost) can become a hot button issue on this forum. If it was a discussion of whether the chicken served in FC is real or "parts is parts" formed could turn into an east/west argument in about half a page...

Half a page? Optimist.

It is a shame that crap like this will now flow down thru the entire workforce. Many of us who work on the ramp have purchased our own ID holders to prevent losing our SIDA badges while jumping in and out of bins etc. Many Airports are charging a fee to replace lost badges, and some are quite steep with PHL charging employees $100.

The rules have never changed....The company is now enforcing the policy and rightly so. It is getting out of hand. Frankly im tired of seeing the Pitts lanyard 🙂

I agree that the company needs at some point put down "their" foot. But, in light of all the other things that need to be fixed, is this really at the top of it? Besides, cracking down on employees is all that the company already does all the time. Yet again, when it comes to being nice and decent, and doing something for the employees, and perhaps, getting down to the task of negotiating in good faith, you wont see the company putting half the effort in that.
