How's that Arab Spring working out

Update (4:17 p.m. EDT): The protesters who set fire to the American school in Tunis made off with laptop computers and tablets, Reuters reported in the caption for this dramatic photo of the school ablaze:
Of course, steal those assets before you burn the building.
That will teach us American infidel pigs... LOL

The people are ignorant. I saw a TV interview with someone on the street (no idea what country) and they had no idea of the concept of freedom of speech or that the POTUS cannot just unilaterally restrict a post on line. They have no reference because of where they live so it's no wonder that they think anything published from the US has the official sanction of the US. The idea that anyone can post anything they want with out government over sight is alien to them.

Unfortanetly in most of these countries it's what they know. The governments, or former governments, control the information flow and you know they were not going to teach in their schools the concept of a free press. Very dangerous thing for dictatorships. Add to that a steady diet of anti-US propoganda it should not be to suprising some people resort to violence.

Yes they are isolated and disenfranchised and as much as we MeriKans try bring them to the 19th century (don't even speak of the 21st century).
The Islamic clergy and their gooberment will continue to keep them uninformed and subjugated.
Problem is, they don't understand that. Of course, their officials do and choose not to educate them.
IMHO, whatever information they get comes from the mosque or aljazeera. Hell, the Afghanistanis still play polo with a sheep carcase.
Most Islamic countries still marry off children and circumcise baby girls.

So, what do we do as MeriKans?
As much as we try to educate and teach, the Islamist nuts keep kicking back with their same old same old. It gets tiresome as we take 1 step forward and knocked back two steps.

IMHO, it's time to cut our losses and GTFO!

FYI, I lived in the ME, nothing changed in 30 years!

Here's a point to ponder.

If we had a non interventionist Foreign Policy for say the last 30 years who exactly would the Islamist hate? We wouldn't have been over there meddling. Let Russia and Europe get blown up and hated. We need to stay home and watch TV more as a Super Power.

Nope, they would hate us because we didn't intervene.

Here is a brief description of "No-Bid" or Sole Source Contracting from our friends at wikipedia.

The term "no-bid contract" is a popular phrase for what is officially known as a "sole source contract" which means that there is only one person or company that can provide the contractual services needed, so any attempt to obtain bids would only result in that person or company bidding on it.
A no-bid contract is awarded usually, but not always, by a government group after soliciting and negotiating with only one firm (see 48 CFR § 2.101). These contracts can be negotiated much more quickly than a typical competitive contract because there is no due-process but on the other hand, they are often fraught with suspicion that the company used illegal or immoral means to exclude competitors (usually by cronyism or bribery).
Nevertheless, U.S. law permits the government to award sole source contracts under specified circumstances (48 CFR Ch. 1, Part 6) but no-bid contracts are illegal under European Union commissioning law.[sup][citation needed][/sup] Usually the reason is cost and urgency as a no-bid contract allows the government to get contractors working as quickly as possible in an "urgent" situation.

Well DUH! Sometimes a contract is a no-bid because there are no other takers.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't the great Obama catch heat early on, because he continued to use Dickies boys?

Keep barking folks, but not everything is what it seems. All those capable of doing what the Haliburton boys did, raise your hands. Otherwise keep thinking you know the answers, ha-ha.

And again this is a religion issue, not politics...ha-ha!

Can anyone name three prominent Middle Eastern Leaders who refused to accept US Currency as payment for oil? If you can you've broken the code and you'll see a bit different picture as to why we empire build in the region.

The horror, they trashed a KFC which was probably owned by a local and the workers were local.
Gotta love the drama, starting to look like the Islamist version of the LA riots...
IMHO these people have too much time on their hands.

Clueless aren't you? They are attacking the capitalism that represents your country. Now why don't you tell them that you hate Bush?

Hmmmm...I remember being in Tunisia in 1972 and they hated Americans and Westerners back then. They hated America back then and without the dictatorship to take responsibility you have the anarchy of the ignoirant that hates the US and ALLIES EVEN MORE!

Wake up. They hate you and that is the bottom line!!

The dollar is the GOD of money. The fact that we are forced to print more money makes our dollar worthless in the woirldwide market,. which is part of the collapse of government that the Middle East is hoping for.
