More CLT Cuts

They were seasonal flights that are not being flown at the moment.

CLT-BCN future bookings are solid.

And its not a cut if it isnt even flying yet.

Just like DL cut their ORD-LHR flight before it actually flew.

Loss of STAR customer base and ramp-up of ONEWORLD hurts the intl feed, especially overseas.
US had a bunch of UAL customers flying on US because it was more convenient or cheaper and they still accrued STAR miles.
Those people are gone.
Cheers.

whatever DL did or didn't do doesn't change that US IS reducing its int'l presence at CLT and doing it earlier than was planned.

These flights were loaded for sale so if they are pulled back, it means there is less for sale.

Lots of us said a long time ago that US couldn't support the amount of int'l flying it is doing now w/ the loss of Star and this very likely proves the point although BCN is into a oneworld hub.

AA and US are going to have to make network cuts and they won't be able to ignore the personnel aspect of having a smaller network.

Why dont you post the flight cuts and seasonal flights DL flies out of JFK?

I mean if DL dominates the world as you claim they shouldnt be cutting flights either.

What about that DL ORD-LHR flight?

But this doesn't appear to be just a "seasonal" adjustment.

Do you really think these "seasonal" flight will return for 2015?

Why not funnel these paxs thru LHR?  Now that US is part of the AA/BA Atlantic Joint Business...you can bet that's whats going to happen.

American trimming European summer service out of Charlotte

My colleague at the Charlotte Observer, Ely Portillo, reported Tuesday that American Airlines is going to trim its seasonal schedule to Europe from Charlotte that is starting in a few weeks.

American, which merged with US Airways in December, had planned to run daily flights to Barcelona, Lisbon, Brussels and Manchester through the summer from its Charlotte hub but has cut back Brussels and Lisbon service to four days a week, Portillo wrote in this article.

“As part of the ongoing process to ensure we are maximizing our fleet and profitability and matching customer demand, we have made some adjustments to our seasonal flights between Charlotte and Europe throughout this summer,” company spokesman Davien Anderson told Portillo.

The flights, which are operated by US Airways, will also end a month earlier than originally announced.

As far as flights being only 1/3 sold, we're still quite ways out from the summer vacation season.  I don't know anyone who has made their vacation plans yet.

Wrong, loads should be more healthy than that at this point. You aren't typical. Sounds like you are more of a business traveler type.

These flights were added before the DOJ caved and permitted the merger to go forward, so they aren't necessarily flights that were planned to operate if the merger was approved.   Additionally, their announcement countered the government's claims that new AA would cut flights - here was US adding flights from CLT.   It made Parker look better.    Now that the merger has been approved, it's time for the "numbers guys" of Parker and Kirby to apply some math to these flights instead of the positive press spin that their announcement generated.   And that math might lead to trimming them.

is there a chance that eventually the 777 will take over some of those intl routes out of CLT?  and if so  what would some of those destinations be?
