Who wants a merger with US?

Do AA employees want to merge with US Airways?

If we do nothing else but look at the fact that US has been yelling Merger-Wolf for years now, should indicate the many failures to attempt to merge. If we look at that last merger, we see an airline that can't resolve its labor issues.

US may look good on paper, but in reality there is trouble in paradise. All you have to do is go to the US forums, where a PompoUS Pilot keeps bringing up his labor issues in each and every thread!

It's as if we are told not to pay any attention to the man behind the curtain, lets call him Doug, but the world sees him for the clown he is. More than likely, he is due for another DWI.

So yeah this merger MIGHT happen. That will just give us ammo to say "We told you so!" down the road.

Look at it this way, if failing airlines continue to merge, sooner or later someone could hit the lottery so to speak.

US is the second largest carrier in the Caribbean.

And ALPA has always led the way in concessions and then the TWU.

Try again, you make this way too easy.

Last time I checked US is profitable and your carrier of choice AA is in chapter 11.

So, in fact, airlines in bankruptcy are the airlines to merge with because they may need to be acquired in order to emerge out of bankruptcy, like the UA-CO merger when UA wasn't doing well before the merger.

Lets all work together, AMR and US pilots to stop this merger this will not be good for either group. Watch for Horton/Parker to play you guys. It will not be good. We can stop this if we work together!!!!!!! America West pilots will think they saved AMR and thus should move to the top of the list. Don't let that happen.

Kid, that is stupid. AA is in bankruptcy and a merger is a good way to return to profit. Get out of this discussion as that makes no sense!

In reply to AAviator's challenge question as to why LCC folks can 't answer basic question, maybe it is because it has already been answered in many different ways by many different people:http://www.washingto...ory.html?sub=AR.

Maybe it is time for you to come up with a counter opinion that makes sense other than just the same old B/S.
JK, If this merger happens, it will be a disaster for current AA employees. Every other airline "passed" on doing a deal with US/AW/LCC.

If the combination occurs, you'll see LCC assets slowly migrate to AA's hubs, replacing current and future opportunities for AA employees. Places like PHL and CLT may maintain their current departure rate, but watch... as "optimization" happens, the further growth of non-mainline positions.

What has become painfully obvious to AA pilots, after viewing the AIP with Parker is that he wants the tools to do what ever he want, and, to do so on the backs of labor. Parker has employed a "we're too big to fail" strategy based on regional airlines compensation packages, and has done a good job of it.

I've read the article you've posted.. While some of it rings true.. The longer term result will be nothing more than a Phyyric victory.

. All AA would gain of value is DCA, a few Europe routes and TLV.

Wouldn't the IAM+TWU be the ultimate concession machine? Can't imagine that would be too great for AA employees. Face it, US Air is a pathetic carrier with hubs in secondary markets, no Asia presence, limited Caribbean routes, no real first class product, and abysmal labor relations. All AA would gain of value is DCA, a few Europe routes and TLV. All of which AA could enter on their own.

Why did TWA dump TLV abruptly ?

Could it be that AMR's didn't want to face the media hoard clamoring to know why AMR wouldn't have 2 daily JFK-TLV 747 service that TWA.

A little bird told me that Roswell will have 400 aircraft arriving soon, that mostly belong to USAir. The older 737's
and the merger will be a done deal in 60 days.

AA HR is welcome to send resumes to Roswell at anytime.

US east only has a few 737s left, so there wont be 400 planes arriving there, and there isnt room for that.

US' mainline fleet even isnt 400 planes, they are retiring some 737s this year and into next. US only has 40 active 737-400s flying.

US mainline active fleet is only 333 planes.

I never said US had 400 aircraft, I said 400 would be arriving at Roswell.

And it is happening. Call Stewart Industries and ask about a job.

Over the next five to ten years, there could be 400+ airplanes arriving at ROW, many of them from AA as the 460+ narrowbody order is delivered. AA still has a couple hundred MD-80s to be parked in the next five years plus nearly 100 757s that will be retired over the next five to ten years plus the 762s and probably some of the older 763s. Unless Parker has an affinity for a different desert parking spot, ROW will see a lot of shiny planes with red, white and blue stripes.

I agree with the person who guessed that -400s from US means the three dozen or so 737-400s that US will retire as its new A321s arrive.

400+ airplanes In the short term? Uh, No.
