No I see a man with a clear cut agenda. Actually I may understand it a little better now and get part of the purpose of it? Tim is in one of those Class 2 cities. They have obviously been stepped on by those in the hubs. There's an unequal balance and an unfairness to maybe how they're treated and many of them probably feel powerless to be able to do anything about that? The history proves the treatment may be true. Tim is angry and doesn't want to feel powerless so he does EVERYTHING he can to make his voice heard. His methods seem crazy but maybe instead they're an act of desperation?

If my opinion is even partially true I'd have to give him at least a small measure of support. I'm in a hub myself but I would never sell out someone else for my own benefit especially not the little guy.

This doesn't make me a Nelson convert because he's done horrible things in his desperation. It just maybe makes me sympathize a little.
Careful who you're calling the "little guy" WeAAsles. You insinuate, by your post, that members working in the hubs are more important and should be held in a higher esteem. I did19 years in a hub, prior to the 15 years, I have done in a class two station. The work in the class two stations is more inclusive of all aspects of the Fleet Service work of the CBA. The work in the hubs tends to be very specific. Either way; we are all union brothers and sisters working the duty assignments and classifications under the same CBA. We all have financial obligations and families to support. No one is superior to the other. We're all in this together. No one is "the little guy". It's time we act accordingly and aggressively pursue a Section 6 Agreement at US that satisfies the entire membership. Regardless of the size of the station we work in.

They have to go through US' line training and be qualified on all the planes.
So if we have a plane break and divert to Minot ND or Thule Greenland we need to fly our own mechanics there?  Where I was going with this is that we use contract mechanics in odd stations where we dont' have any, so if we're allowed to do that why wouldn't NW (or US) be allowed to do the same if their MX strike?

Maybe Tim can find me an "Expert" to dispel or refute what my expert is saying?
I charge $400/hour to speak as an expert.

Is there a reason you guys are letting yourselves get dragged out into the weeds?
Was wondering the same thing. I scroll through 10 pages of posts and find very few with substance concerning our current state of affairs. Very few that promote solidarity. Very few that are nothing more than a volley of personal credibility attacks. Meanwhile; we march closer to battle.

It beats reading about the UA/CO Transition Agreement, and how the tricky ol' IAM conned 70% of their members to support it, while coaxing many to not even care enough to vote...

If a part is sent to a city that doesnt have maintenance for an AOG aircraft a US mechanic is sent on a road trip to fix the plane, this has been going on for years.

We have sent mechanics to BDA for engine changes, to the carribean for work, if the plane is in Europe, its normally done by contract maintenance and a supervisor is sent overseas and sometimes even US mechanics.

Engine changes are done at non-mtc stations by US mechanics flown in to do the work when the plane goes AOG.

When we didnt have mechanics in LAS before the merger, we drove an engine out there for a 757 and all the tooling and mechanics from CLT and LAX were dispatched to change the engine.

I took a landing gear to LGA for a 737-200 even though we had mechanics there, they werent qualified to change a landing gear and mechanics from CLT Heavy Maintenance were flown in to change the gear.

Have sent mechanics to Bangor and other offline cities also.

I have personally taken road trips in stores to bring parts to an AOG aircraft, making big money all mostly OT.

And if there is a strike, then the company is free to do what they want.

Enough of the politics! Enough of the "we should have or shouldn't have done that" rhetoric! Enough of the "name the poster" and all the other distractions. It's time to move forward as a united group! It's time to get fair, meaningful and deserved improvements in our working conditions! Fall in! Await orders and be prepared to Lock and Load! The time for solidarity is now!

Freedom,

I guess you are stuck at the AA bag pier which has been inadequately staffed?  More CF transitions?  Frankly, no contract will address the lack of management skills and foresight... but if you are pissed now, wait until the new and improved bid which re-arranges job assignments take effect next month!

Personally, I enjoy a day dream of a Prometheus saga in which during a strike the Managers spend an eternity stacking bags in the bins while scanning tags with a "free" hand... just as the bin is bulked-out, it mysteriously provides more space and another full cart arrives.  Some may visualize relaxation as if to be walking towards the sea, smelling the ocean spray, feeling the cool breeze, and the admiring the majestic azure hues of water, and I envision the grainy feel of a picket sign, the exhaust of passenger drop-off lanes, the summer blast of heat, and pudgy red-faced managers busting it in the bins.... LOCK AND LOAD, MFers!

it's because they fear if nelson farts they won't be able to smell it
+1
Actually the thread has become disinteresting.  Most of the post are by posters who don't even pay dues and/or are not even IAM members.  Not saying that they shouldn't post but the thread becomes very disinteresting when the thread is absolutely dominated by posters who arent even active iam members. For whatever personal reason, just been boring at a time when the main focus should be on a contract

by roabillys own admission, he doesnt care about united.
However, the question he fails to answer is if his boys and our negotiators who are on the eboard were worth their mettle endorsing the united contract.

The lack of education by toabilly and the eboard members about negotiagions is concerning since AH cares about that ua contract. Obviously nobody from usairways iam eboard cared.

That ua contract is going to be what AH uses in joint talks against us and as a member who has engaged in election, i care and realize that the united contract that roabilly doesnt give a crap about is going to make some things harder to overcome.
