Do u know for sure if the buy outnis on the table? Fact is cb prez and the nc teammknow what they proposed

I have heard rumours of that as well robb obviously neither CB or prez can confirm or denie that.

i don't see it as much of an issue on the transaction agreement as it =may be on the joint one but I want to see the agreement represented honestly by IAM reps not like was done on the UA agreement

Parker considers a buyout a propasal of good will only. If not, then he is deceiving when he says he doesn't want anyone to leave because he needs everyone for this merger. Isn't it rather ironic that awhile ago he says that this job of ramp work wasn't meant to be a career and now he says he needs all of us and no layoffs.
Beware the wolf in sheeps clothing!

Mike I fully remember that jerk saying ramp work is not a career someone needs to tell him to f off bec we are the group that does a lot in all elements of the weather. Its not meant to be againat the mechanics or anything bec I know they too go out there

rat even if there is a buyout it remains to be seen what is going to be like not to mention other things too bro

When the company is going thru hard times it's " we need givebacks and its not a career anyways ".
When the company is doing good then its  "cost neutral and we don't want you to leave, so you can feel comfortable  knowing you will always have a place to end your career"

Whats wrong with that picture?

Whats wrong w the ceo is that theyre paid too much but have no experience! 🙂

The District and the International had better be prepared to protect the work at the "New" AA because that is what they are coming after. Additionally, the membership needs to prepare for this also. "Protecting the work" is inclusive of preserving FT employment. The membeship needs to be weary of any TA, endorsed by the District leadership, that does not protect full time employment. Full time or part time; the union loses nothing in dues. The only one who suffers is the affected member. Be on gaurd and vigilant Brother and Sisters for the war is on two fronts.

MF told us a buyout was on the table this week. And unless I misunderstood, it is something both parties have discussed as well, not just a union proposal.  Of course things could change but at any rate I don't think any buyout will be at the amount where more than just a couple walk.

Ograc,  you may want to clarify the "Florida Agreement with American".   I ran into a MIA TWU worker last week who said the Florida settlement guaranteed current flight activity in all stations for 5 years and also agreed that all jobs would be retained over the same 5 years. If that is the case, then management can't downsize or contract out JAX.   I haven't read the Florida Agreement but since it is public, a copy of it may be on the internet.  Other states have signed similar agreements.  The general comments of the AG in Florida said that all jobs would have to be retained but I'd like to read the entire agreement. I suggested to MF that we may want to review all the State agreements.  If those civil agreements locked in certain job protections for their citizens over 5 years then that would give our peeps more leverage in negotiations as they wouldn't have to have immediate worries about stations in Florida, Texas, PA, or any one of the other states that struck a deal. Nonetheless, a long term TA should definitely increase and expand scope since this may be the only time where the company is going to want an agreement moreso than not.

Tim if that fla agreement is true and if other states have it too or similar w the new aa then it sounds like company may need the deal sooner rather than later esp when it comes to SCS but again one critical thing we must improve n keep is scope

I think the agreement was for airport service but I'm not totally sure. Haven't been able to find a doc version yet

Attorney General Pam Bondi Announces Airline Settlement that Supports Florida’s Economy and Provides Additional Consumer Choice for Air Travel

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi today announced that her office has reached an agreement over the proposed merger between US Airways and American Airlines. The agreement will help retain and create jobs in Florida, boosting the economy, and provide for excellent airline travel options for consumers. Under the agreement, New American will continue to operate a hub in Miami for three years and continue for five years to serve every airport in Florida now served by the two airlines.

“I am thrilled that we have reached an agreement that will not only keep jobs in Florida, but also will lead to additional jobs in our great state,” stated Attorney General Pam Bondi. “The agreement also ensures that air travelers have ample options before them. I have a great working relationship with American Airlines Chairman and CEO Tom Horton and look forward to continuing that relationship as we bring jobs to Florida.”

The States also joined a settlement with the United States Department of Justice requiring the airlines to divest slots at Reagan National in Washington D.C., LaGuardia in New York City as well as gates at Boston, Chicago, Dallas-Love Field, Los Angeles International and Miami. Slots are required for take offs and landings at DCA and LGA because of congestion. The divestitures will enable new carriers to enter the Washington, D.C. and New York markets. The same will happen as the result of gate divestitures.

Attorney General Bondi was joined in these Settlements by the Attorneys General of: Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and the District of Columbia.

AA will not dehub MIA anytime soon-it's easily the most lucrative hub in the network. If AA walked away from MIA DL, UA, and others wouldn't waste anytime to come in and add flights.

MIA will continue to grow and flourish, the South Florida area is booming right now. More likely CLT will see some right sizing "adjustments" than MIA.

I'm sure if someone digs the official Florida Government site that it is there, until then I could only find a news clipping regarding the jobs.  I like the idea of 'retaining' but I admit, it's just a news clipping and retain could mean different things.  I believe our NC should get the INTL research team on this and get all of those 'state agreements' by this afternoon and find out what AH has locked himself into in those State agreements.  I mentioned this to MF and he said it was a good idea so hopefully they look into it.

Tim,
Retaining jobs could mean retaining Air Serve, Swissport, Air Willy, American Eagle, etc.

Not sure about that one Josh. At any rate, contracting out the jobs in the light of the State contract would unleash a media pounding that puts the company in a terrible light.  Even as small as BUF was, the company took a media pounding.  The pounding would be much worse if it crossed that line in Florida since it would also make the Attorney General look terrible and also things could be manufactured that the company breached its contract with the citizens of Florida.  Politically, it would be a lose lose for the AG and the company.  At any rate, with fresh governmental approvals in  mergers, airlines almost always step back from contracting out jobs for a few years.  That's another reason why it is important to get all current stations grandfathered without drop dead dates.  Putting a time limit on JAX will eat JAX alive in about 3 years. Makes no sense.  If a TA is going to be signed then it needs to be done right and not as lazy bastards would do.  The company wants things, and plenty of them in this merger, we are not compelled to sign a TA any time soon unless it is done right.  I hope our NC doesn't do any stupid sh*t like the previous one who went into panic mode before June elections and figured any TA was better than none.  That group ended up getting their collective arses handed to them in June.  Don't do it!
