I wouldn't read too much into nomination endorsements Tim. They have been a false indicator in the past. Voter turnout will be the key. The level of apathy will be the key. The 70% who voted yes to the POS UA agreement will be the key. If UNFC is voted in it will be on the anticipated wave of dissention on the UA side. This should not be confused with, or interpreted as a ringing endorsement for the 3 US Candidates. I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. In order to get yourself and the 2 other popular candidates elected on the US side of the ballot... You want the UA dissention! You need the UA dissention!

It is true that a primary is different than an election, primary nominations endorsements are quite telling in at least 2 ways.

1. They tell us about a candidate.  A candidate who can't get his own home endorsement from his home local, and those that know him best, should be noted to the entire membership.

2. Although none of us can be absolutely certain how this election will turn out,  the slate that won at least 5 out of 7 United hubs has always won.  In this case, unifiedforchange has won 7 out of 7 United hubs, and in dominating fashion.  The nomination per capita of unifiedforchange represented 86% of the membership, the highest on record.   Of course, it still comes down to getting out the vote.

What about a candidate that bragged he got all the US nominations and finished last in the election?

Then he has to backstab his US members and go with UA to get elected, shows a lot about what this person is all about.

What has your present leadership done for you at usair?  Tim is a fighter and offers something different instead of the same ole.  What has he done to you for you to offer nothing but insults towards him?  I have read this board for several pages and it just seems like you guys like to ***** about personal personalities but haven't offered anything that Tim has done to this group, nor have you offered anything that the current leaders have done.

We will carry this through at United and even though Tim is usair, we will vote for him.  He was the one guy who had the balls to stand up and take the bullets when all the usair officers on our executive board voted and endorsed our contract.  Maybe they should stop blaming Tim when they have to order their uniforms, and start blaming themselves for doing nothing other than doing whatever Delaney tells them to do.

How does the first week look?  I know ORD is there for change but who else is voting?  I think the biggest thing that you have to do is to have your team put out flyers to better inform members to vote.  I hate to say it but if we get 2,000 votes in ORD we will be lucky.

Yet, another endorsement from the unifiedforchange.org website

David Judah - Customer Service - DEN

My name is David Judah and I’m part of the PCE group represented by IAM District 141. I work Customer Service in DEN and I fully support the Unified For Change team in the upcoming DL141 election.

I h...ave been a (mostly) silent supporter of this group in the last DL election and most of the time leading up to this election, but no longer.

I met Tracy Russo during the PCE organizing campaign in CLE and was immediately impressed with her knowledge and understanding of what needed to be done with the house calling efforts that we had ahead of us. Her fight for and education of not only her coworkers in CLT but all employees during the TA ratification was selfless. She CARES about her union brothers and sister – regardless of what station they’re in.

I have known John Turner for a few years since he and his wife transferred to DEN. John is a stand up person with a lot of knowledge and experience within the union. John is not afraid to speak his mind, he possesses a calm, level headed demeanor, and is willing to stand up for his union brothers and sisters, no matter if they are ATW or BTW.

My experience with Chris Coffman is limited, but in that limited time I believe the same about Chris as I do John. Chris did his homework with both TA1 and the recently ratified contracts and understood what was wrong with them. He put together comparisons of the previous CBAs side by side with the new one and educated members to the inherent flaws in the new contract.

Terri Crandall was one of many that spent over a year in IAH, educating our sCO PCE coworkers leading up to the PCE representation vote. She endured animosity not only from trying to make headway into a hostile, non-union environment, both with employees, but also with sCO and airport management trying to keep her out of IAH, but also with District Leadership doing what they could to shut down her efforts and keep her in DEN. She persevered. Even after she was told on FIVE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS by CURRENT DL141 leaders that she was being returned to DEN, the Grand Lodge helped keep her in IAH and to continue her efforts in educating and organizing. YOUR CURRENT DL141 LEADERS tried on 5 separate occasions to STOP Terri and her group from organizing our PCE coworkers!

Hold them accountable and vote THEM out of office!

I look forward to supporting the ENTIRE Unified for Change team in the upcoming District election in June.

A lot of hard work brother.  You are a little more hopeful than I am about ORD getting out 2,000.  Last election, they only got out 1,600 out of 5,000.  Sure they are pissed off at the current officers but we still gotta make sure they vote.

Getting out the vote will be key but the bar I set was to be out of the first week with 750 more votes than the current regime.  One week at a time but I think we should build off of the first week and if we end the week at or ahead of a 750 vote surplus then I personally would feel that we did fairly well in getting out the vote.  Time will tell but anything can happen.  Only in the IAM can we have these democratic elections so this election should further engage the members.  Thanks for all of your support.

I am just curious how a slate of IAM members from United Airlines is going benefit IAM members from US Airways in this upcoming vote next month?  If there is a valid answer to that, then I will consider those individuals, otherwise, I think it would be foolhardy to vote these individuals into positions that will not benefit members from US Airways.

Also, I hear the Negotiations were making progress this past week until the Company threw 10 US Airways cities on the chopping block for outsourcing.  Curious which cities those were... probably the remaining western cities that are still around with 4-5 flights a day.

There isn't any slate of just United members. Both slates have the exact same amount of US AIRWAYS AGC's.  PERIOD!
What is true is that only United airline members  [Delaney] enter negotiations while all US AIRWAYS fleet service negotiators stay in the room down the hall.  That has been true of late and prolly was true this last week as well.

I haven't heard how last week's negotiations went but I know that they wanted to up the scope minimums by 33% from 8 to 12 flights a day.  AH was trying to bridge this by offering a no-layoff clause so when someone gets contracted out, then at least they can move hundreds of miles and bump someone from CLT or PHL.  The union added a Cinderella date to one day prior to ammendability but AH hasn't signed off on it yet and that seems to be the holdup along with the officer election.   Fairbanks claimed that if they brought this TA back now, that he would get eaten alive in CLT.  He is correct. So the plan is to wait until the US AIRWAYS votes are in, then dress up this POS agreement and sell it on fear, telling folks if they vote it down then they will possibly have to wait years for another one.

The present position of the negotiation committee is nothing short of a disaster since they didn't realize that when they moved towards management by waiving off scope enhancements and AMR wages that the NMB saw that as a reason to shelve any impasse decision.  AH played them like idiots, I hate to say.

I was handed a pamphlet of candidates by someone recently and that pamphlet encouraged me to vote for a slate of people that are employed by United Airlines.  Yes, there were a couple of US Airways employees on that slate, but it was, by far, a majority of United employees.
Again, if there is a valid reason to be voting for a majority of United employees and how that might benefit us as US Airways employees, I would just like to know.  Thanks.

That's a good question but that's how this district votes.  That pamphlet was most likely 141rising pamphlete since my team simply doesn't have the funds to do a nice glossy pamphlet.

At any rate, both slates have 11 out of 14 AGC candidates that are United Airline members.  United makes up 34,000 out of 40,000 in this voting block.  Same thing at DL142.  US AIRWAYS MX have to vote on Express jet or Southwest employees.  I think we all agree with you that it doesn't make much sense to vote for someone from southwest who won't ever represent you.  The problem is that you have to vote for all positions so if you only vote for 5 or 6 that you know, then your ballot will be invalid.  If it says 'vote for 12' then if you vote for 11, it's void.

Same amount of AGC's for US AIRWAYS that currently exist on both slates. No reduction of AGC's. Period.
Do the other positions assist at US in Grievance Work and or negotiations?
