This link gives a pretty good overview of the process.Jester said:Anyone still think Obama wouldn't step in to stop the IAM from striking and shutting down US over a contract dispute anymore?
"President Barack Obama is forcing workers in Philadelphia's commuter rail strike to return to the job.
Obama granted Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett's request to create a presidential emergency board to mediate the dispute between the Southeast Pennsylvania Transportation Authority and its engineers and electricians unions."

You should probably wait until the full details are released before you rant personally.UnitedWeStand said:Ok!
This has been festering in me for a while so I'm going to get it out. Word is we are not getting back pay. The question in the brake room today is; how much is this costing us.
I am no an accountant and my math can be bad but I thought I would throw this out there.
As of last week, if my calculations are correct, our contract came up for renewal (not expired)
A full time agent (me) working 40 hours and not to include overtime (which I work alot of) will have amassed 5120 hours
If a topped out full-time agents pay ($20.57) will be brought up to American pay ($23.00) that would be an pay increase of $2.43.
5120 (hours)
x 2.43 (increase)
= $12,441.60
To my knowledge, and I could be slightly off, there are approximately 2800 topped out (as of December 31, 2011) full timers.
$12,441.60
x 2800
= $34,836,480
This is what has been festering me. How can we agree to allow the Company to realize a savings by dragging it's feet in negotiations and carving out of your my a$$ to the tune of up to $12,441 per ?
I can think of many Ramen noodle lunches I've had to eat because of the company. I know that I could use that money right now to help pay for my kids College.
We deserve to get back pay! Our negotiators should not find it acceptable to take food out of my kids mouths and clothes off their back to get a deal!
That's my rant for the day!!!
So you're adopting our wonderful lime green vest huh. Ah get over it man. We're not supposed to be wearing any personal lanyards anymore on our side ok.cltrat said:fleet doesn't get theirs here till Monday, mx is doing a nice job of bitching about wearing them

But let's take your retro scenario into consideration using AMTRAK as an example. It took almost all the unions on the property near 8 years to finally secure a contract under the recommendation of a President Bush PEB. They did receive full retro but also the PEB recommendation said the workers were underpaying for their medical.
So in the end they got a retro check near nothing at all since they had to reimburse the medical cost to AMTRAK. And to get to that point AMTRAK stonewalled and stalled them in the process for a grueling 8 years.
Most people under the RLA know the AMTRAK story all too well now and it was a hard story to learn.
