I'll tell you Ograc. I read another blog post by that guy I posted above Bill Swelbar where he states the case that the airlines need to stop the outsourcing epidemic and bring the work back inhouse where they have a better control over it. Not to mention just that but he also cited the value behind better customer service in relation to pricing power. The analysis was pretty insightful and Swelbar is someone who is well regarded and listened to within the industry.

5 will get you 10 that even Doug has had a few sit downs with the man.

And the dynamics of everything we've known since the day we started our careers changed on April 26 when U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly formally approved the merger of our two airlines.

We do have the hardest job of all now though. Reconditioning our own minds to grasp the new realities.
I guess I'm still in a "learning curve". I personally believe that although the dynamics have changed with the merger, the company will continue to try to squeeze out everything they can from the represented employees to improve profits and returns to the shareholders. I hope you're right but in my opinion it's the same Ho in a new dress.

ROA,
If catering jobs is in fact cost neutral as you state, than I would have to beieve the company's focus in joint talks, would be to raise the threshold of mainline flying in outline stations to reduce union represented jobs through outsourcing. One way or another; I believe the company is coming after jobs and cities represented in joint talks. We may have won a battle with a Section 6 TA but the war is not over yet IMO. The new joint Negotiating Committee and the membership should be ready. Synergies gained with any merger has included job loss.
Lock and Load!
ograc I think it's time for me to tell you to stop seeing the glass as half empty.

It's NOT happening!!!!!

I'll give you a little time to be in your "learning curve" because you seem like a good guy.

But I'm not very patient and I expect people to fall in line kinda quickly.

Remember your most successful people have to know how to pivot.

Cargo is "once bitten, twice shy" as are many...

However, that mindset will NOT bode well when go into JCBA talks. The time is now to think about GAINING Classifications, Membership,  and Job Protection... not losing it!

The Company would love for us to sit down in JCBA talks with the idea of further losses on the N/C's mind!

Actually Roa I don't know too much about how RDU operated before I hired on? I hired on in 95 and all I know is that there were a few guys in LGA that came from there and I met others in DFW and MIA.

I'd like to see us fight to get Cabin Service back. The only reason the company got it was because of the BK and much like your Catering they were trying to get it forever. With Cabin service we did cleaning and stocking of supplies.

Here in MIA I'd like to see Eulen America chucked back on their keesters and our people back in those ratty asss old trucks.
I keep forgetting, you are a young'n!

RDU was hubbed in the mid 80's by AA... however, competition from Piedmont Airlines in CLT squashed them by the 90's...
AA did build a state of the art terminal, and catering/kitchen facility during that time....

Not a problem but the man has to start reading shite and so do all of our members. My confidence comes from reading and learning. I can also be F'en brutal as Tim has seen and even 700 for a little bit (who I think is a good guy too) if I think someone just doesn't get it. I'm not here to care about anyone's feelings either since everyone has a mommy for that (Or a wife or a dog or a bottle beer if that's what you need)

You HAVE to have the dynamics and the ability financially to get those gains. As I said in the past before the merger your company DID NOT have that ability. THEY DO NOW!!!!!

I have phone numbers and I'll get even more if I have to to keep them in the right mindset. That's kind of what I do.

Not from all the things I read in the NY Times archives.

I do have one question here...   what happens if say FSA approves the TA  but say the MTR does not?   there was a deal whereas M&R and FSA have the backing of each other
What ever happens one can honor the others line! Nothing changes in that regard but i dont think the company would like that to happen and that is why if ours passes and theirs doesn't,  in joint talks,  we need the TWU language changed to more like ours. ( if it is still there that is ).

Patton was murdered because after Germany was defeated he felt we should turn our tanks around and head right into Russia. He didn't believe the fight was over.

"At the time of his accident, Patton was the lone high-level Allied voice arguing to fight the Soviets, who had been American allies. He knew their treachery that would develop into the Cold War and was preparing to go back to the U.S. and campaign against them"

I would like to add another observation regarding Catering Scope. Essentially, most of Catering IS contracted out on the US side. Our scope only provides protection for Beverage Packing, Snack Preparation, and Flight Line Delivery. LSG handles ALL of the Food Preparation that requires heating, cooking, and equipment washing. In other words... there are no Fleet Service “Kitchen” workers...

AA actually did have a Employee staffed kitchen in RDU at one point that was later closed. WeAAsles may be able to further expound on those circumstances...
AA has never done it's own catering on a large scale, however I think some small stations use to put ice on. AirCal and TWA both had commissary/provisioning before AA took them over, and AA eliminated that function very soon after. AA's thought was if they had to pay Skychef's to come out and put food on the flight they can put the soda, ice, etc...on as well. AA owned Skychefs for many years, so maybe AA got it on the real cheap.

he was not the only one, and regardless of what Patton may have said, he was a good soldier and would have followed orders, no need to assassinate him.. now what he did after he retired thats a question... but that wasnt going to happen any time soon...

the rumor that he was murdered has been an old one... when it first was brought up decades ago it was the russians that killed him, now its our own side killed him... noone wanted to say that it was because he died in a car accident...  sometimes a persons luck just runs out, no conspiracy needed for that
