DOH is a time stamp, whereas LOS measures actual contribution to the company. Certainly furlough is a sacrifice and should be factored. But not every furloughee returned when recalled. Some number went and stayed with other carriers, other careers, other pursuits and never looked back.Phoenix said:For how long?
How long is the whole point of DOH/LOS is it not?![]()
You can't ignore the fact that the last legacy merger to go DOH took place in our salad days and was only partially factored in the most recent UAL/CAL merger.
In our upcoming integration with AA, DOH/LOS diluted with fences around equipment is not the genuine article. Most of us should be 777 skippers under a pure DOH regime. Good luck with that. You can no longer ignore other factors such as pre merger career expectations, who's value, like beauty, varies with the perspective of the beholder; or what was brought to the table, such as widebody flying or international routes.
I don't care for these developments but the industry and it's unions (pilot unions) have morphed. The opportunity for a national seniority list has come and gone. Tribalism is the existing order. Absent a consensual agreement between USAPA and APA in the near future, this thing will go to arbitration. M/B sets out the criteria to be considered by the panel. My guess is the end result will look more like the most recent merger than the one from 25 years ago. DOH/LOS would be icing on the cake.
