Low-cost regional pilots considered for Swiss Boeing 777-300ER fleet
Kurt Hofmann Apr 18, 2014
Swiss International Air Lines is reportedly considering using pilots from low-cost subsidiary Swiss European Air Lines to operate its new Boeing 777-300ER fleet as the carrier faces more competition from Gulf carriers. It is scheduled to take delivery of its new 777 fleet beginning in 2016.

Using pilots from European, rather than using its mainline pilots, would reduce labor costs. Swiss European pilots operate Avro regional jets.

Swiss mainline Airbus pilots in mid-April rejected a new, joint collective labor agreement with the pilots of the Avro fleet, represented by Aeropers and IPG Cockpit unions. The current collective labor contract of (Swiss European) IPG pilots is valid through the end of June; talks with Swiss management are ongoing.

Swiss European operates a fleet of 20 Avro RJ100s. According to IPG Cockpit, transferring to Boeing 777 long-haul operations would create new opportunities for the short-haul pilots.

According to several media reports, Swiss estimates the move will save between CHF20 million ($22.7 million) and CHF30 million annually.

A Swiss spokesperson in Zurich told ATW, “We are in ongoing talks with the union of Swiss European pilots since their contract will end soon. While these negotiations are ongoing, we do not want to comment.”

Ask the TWA pilots about "adults"... you have TWA guys that came to USAir and then got furloughed, then got hired at AWA, and the thought the Nic was their ticket to the promised land.... perhaps they have forgotten about what TWA did to them since they are blind with rage that they didn't get to leapfrog everyone at USAir.   😀

I would not refer to usair as the promised land.View attachment 10158View attachment 10158View attachment 10158

Yup, I "wen" to private school. Were you a small town boy out East?

"My Little Town"

In my little town
I grew up believing
God keeps His eye on us all
And He used to lean upon me
As I pledged allegiance to the wall
Lord I recall
My little town

Coming home after school
Flying my bike past the gates
Of the factories
My mom doing the laundry
Hanging our shirts
In the dirty breeze

And after it rains
There's a rainbow
And all of the colors are black
It's not that the colors aren't there
It's just imagination they lack
Everything's the same
Back in my little town

In my little town
I never meant nothin'
I was Just my father's son
Saving my money
Dreaming of glory
Twitching like a finger
On the trigger of a gun
Leaving nothing but the dead and dying
Back in my little town

You may someday.

You and the West posters seem to forget the APA might be pushing for a 3 way for an entirely different reason:

APA - America West with your furloughs, down grades and no wide bodies compose list A.

APA - US Airways a separate and distinct list B.

Put those 2 together using the APA list as the 'back bone'.

The West goes waaaayyy down the list.

The East has over 900 pilots over 60. 1400 over 57. Throw up the rumored 7 year fence and ya got about 1000 narrowbody dudes left.

It wont be called a 'staple' by name.

The problem with your argument is that US Airways is one entity. Your union, however, does not have our best interests in mind which our legal team keeps in mind.

Where is Nicforus when you need him babbling on about accepted list?

Not for pilot seniority. You paid to set this in stone legally.

List( s )

Who's to say what an arbitration will rule?

I hope you do get a three way regardless and I wish you luck with your APA Overlords.

Kiwi/ NoNic4 is completely baffled by the turn of events. His predictions backfired with epic consequences. Simply put, Kiwi is up the proverbial creek.

Can you imagine the looks Johnny Mac and Mitch Vaselino get these days? Make sure you HIGH FIVE them next time you see them. After all, a little compromise and the Nic would have been in place just about now.
You can thank Mike Cleary for doing all the legwork and hiring the right people who told him exactly how to play the west. Everyone knew there was merger fever in the industry, and the biggest proponent was the CEO Doug Parker.
Smart move west, let the pay issue keep Parker from a JCBA which also could have given you the Nic. Then taunt east pilots. Now it bit you. They make more, upgrade faster, move from base to base at will.
Nice job Eric Auxier. The only thing you proved is what a massive tool you, Tony Anger, and Brice LeCarre are.

Why did the west turn down the NIC when it was offered to them, blame only yourselves .

We now have a better picture what the East MEC had on the table: an 8 year fence, furloughs by longevity (LOS), MDA time not counting for longevity, Dave ODell having 400 pilots below him, and the Nic surviving as THE LIST. Yes, the East offered the NIC. They just wanted to protect their retirement attrition, which stalled by the change in Age-60. Looking back, that offer must look like a home run to any West pilot right now, but last February the EAST MEC and ALPA couldnt get to first base with it.

We had the same guy in the Jumpseat on his way to MIA, he told us it would be going to a two-way arbitration. No west. He also said by going to arbitration, no DFRs from anyone. Case closed.
Starting to think that Wilson is not all that bright to risk arbitration and put his pilots in such jeopardy, but if he wants to let us all have all those wide bodies so be it. Yes, my AA friends were told at their union meeting too expect only two at the table, unless AA comes to their senses.

Why would "you'se" expect seperate representation for the west section then? Just a kindly suggestion: Try some of that "logic" stuff sometime. 😉

Yeah, sounds like you're "happy". It sure sucks to be you guys. Just saw a Westicle crew get off the bus at the PHL short hotel this morning. The "copilots" liberty tie was putting the smiles on HIS face. NOT! The Captain was even WORST! His bags had stickers all over it about how he is not a member of USAPA, had homemade "APA is my union" bag tag and looked MISERABLE! The flight attendants were VERY polite and happy, however! They all smiled at me and said good morning, which I was GLAD to return the salutations.

You Westicles need to get another job flipping burgers so you can move on with your worthless existence. Auxier is so miserable he has to attempt to corrupt the minds of the new entrants to the profession by praying on 14 year olds trying to tell them how bad the West pilots careers are.

How sad.

I know how you feel about ties and bag tags. As for the rest of your post, tell me again who is displaying misery?
