We're not merging with AWA. We're merging with LCC. Go do some homework, like, on the combined -arbitrated- seniority list, where does the 84 AWA hire fit today? Is he Widebody seniority at LCC? Then IMO he should hold that rank and status in the merger.
You see, the only difference is, in reality, that you think that spot should go to an East pilot regardless of the past. Truth is, someone will, and it most likely will not be an Eastie, and that just kills you..
Sure, that FORMER AWA pilot may be younger than an East pilot may be in that slot, but with growth, further attrition, and pilot compensation what it is now and can be in the future (this is where I see the easties plucking things up royally) everyones career earnings will be more.
