Absolutely, I think it's over-glamorized in the movies and on TV. Watch any sitcom or TV drama from the past 20 years involving a single parent (divorced or widowed doesn't count). You'll never see them on food stamps. They're almost always career people who are quite successful, or have someone pitching in to provide child care so they can continue to work full time.
