What's new

A different Teamster contract.

Well you dont need AMTs at the ibt carriers since they allow the amount of outsourcing, so they were never hired in the first place.
outsource it all. Look at the IBT/UPS. IAM has never had a contract like that and never will.

The iam contract is for half of the 737 fleet to be done inhouse and all of the airbus narrow body to be done in house. We are talking heavy checks. In the town hall meeting DP stated when AWA fleet falls under the iam contract that those planes contractually have to be done IN-HOUSE! Time will tell if the new regeim follows the contracts.

Thanks for the correction, BrutallyHonest. Everyone forget everything I said.

Funny UPS outsources all of its heavy mtc.

I believe WN's AMTs are.

And how many planes does UPS have and how many AMTs?

If my info is correct, UPS mechanics are making about $44.00/hr.How many dues paying members there are wont pay the bills.

TPAA&P
I agree with Aerosmith. BOS and PHL have consistantly looked for new hire A&P mechanics. PHL recently hired 12 off the street and is planning to hire additional mechanics in early 06. Speak with Brad in TPA or contact PHL maintenance mgmt. direct.

The above was pulled from a different thread.........not understanding this at all. If there are furloughed A&P's from the old US Airways, why would they be hiring off the street. Or is this all a bunch of hooey. Guess the question really is........which bunch is hooey??

If no one bids those positions then the company hires off the street. If you are furloughed from one city you don't have to take a job in another city. So most guys that are furloughed say out of Pit or Clt prefer not to commute to PHL or BOS. And if you bid to one of those places under the new IAM contract you have to stay there for a year.

Thanks for the info.........didn't make sense to me without your explanation. Much appreciated.

Would the answer be............NEVER??? 😀

Let's see if Mr. 7 knows the answer.

Allowing half (1/2) of the Boeing fleet to be outsourced is ALLOWING OUTSCOURING. Have I missed something here? 🙂

700UW can correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the current IAM contract allowed outsourcing heavy maintenance on the Airbus fleet (which the successful grievance prevented) and kept heavy maintenance on the Boeing fleet in-house.

Actually we got to bring in S checks on the A320 series aircraft. The company may outsource up to 50% of the 737 Q's, and all of the 757, 767, and A330. Although I feel we get a better product when we do it in-house. I wouldn't be surprised to see the company bring some of the vendored items back in house.
