What's new

A different Teamster contract.

Although I feel we get a better product when we do it in-house.

Airlines do get a better product if they do it in house. It seems that most airlines are searching for that fine line between a "cheaper" and a "passable" product. 🙂

outsourcing that was basically forced upon the membership by a bankruptcy judge.

Bankruptcy judge or not...... outsourcing is outsourcing. So there is outsourcing with the IAM also. 🙂

It was not a negotiated CBA, it was a final offer from the company that the members voted to accept.

The "Final Offer" was Rejected, Until the IAM decided that the membership was "confused" and held a second "Final Offer" vote..In between these 2 pathetic votes, The IAM was successful with an "I'm Skeert" campaign and persuaded enough jellyfish members to vote the other way.
Please, Tell it like it was....

Guess you got your timeline wrong.

There was no outsourcing of heavy mtc during the events you describe from 2002.

I am talking about the current CBA and its concessions.

Ah, Yes, Thanks for reminding me, The membership gave up THREE rounds of concessions, Which was made possible by the "I'm skeert" second vote..

Outsourcing is allowed under the IAM CBA. Is the official name of the CBA, The CONCESSION CBA.....NO......it's called the CBA so the concessions DO NOT MATTER. The CBA allows OUTSOURCING. 🙂

Therefore, per your own logic, the Airbus heavy and 50% of the 737 maintenance which is the only thing left from ALL the heavy maintenance that was done before was "forced" upon the membership by a bankruptcy judge also. Dispute that.

that is how a contract is negotiated. union give and company comes back. so on and so on. union gives it to members to vote.

was a take it or leave it option at best....alternative was an imposed contract virtually of the company's choosing with 100% outsource and massive layoffs retaining around 700-800 mech and related systemwide.
IAM/membership had a gun to their head.....vote it down and that would be the end result.....
maybe if they hadn't closed the concession stand things could have been a little better......but like a lot of other things in this life....we'll never know.
