A321 to LAS

Why can't they just re-engine the A321? Is it possible? There has to be something they can do, they done it to the DC-8 in the past and they were alot more powerful afterwards.

The issue with the A321 is not just the engines, but the wing. It is the same 111-ft. wing that's on the A319 (although with a slightly different flap system). I assume this was done for cost savings through commonality.

If you were to see a B737-300 parked next to a B737-800, you'd see a marked difference in wing span. That's why the newer Boeings can fly above 40,000 ft, while a fully-loaded A321 can barely make it into the mid-30's.

When the east 757's were cleaned and maintained it was wonderfull. Top that by our service we had and you had a pretty nice service and experience across the country. The dessert tray in f/c with the sundays and the coffee service. I had many tell me that our transcon 757 service was better than they received going to europe. I know those were the days but at least keep the plane clean. 🙄

I hope that the following is a typo by the company. New investor guidance for 2007 came out today and in the fleet discussion there waa a paragraph about the new A321 deliveries starting in 2008. One sentence said:

"The new A321s will be configured to accommodate 187 passengers in two classes of service and will be used for replacement purposes or modest expansion should market conditions warrant."

This is an increase of 4 seats over the configuration mentioned when they announced the orders for these A321's.
