I have it on good source that there is to be some announcement at the end of the month (Sep).
I did read on Market Watch that there was a Boeing order placed for 16 787s from an "undisclosed buyer"

anybody?

I wish I had a nickel for every time an airline employee posted about some "big announcement" they "heard about" by such-and-such date.

YES!!!! And they are going to recall every furloughed f/a. NOT! Trust me, what goes around comes around.
What does this have to do with recall? Accept that you are not going to be recalled! I wish you were! We are in a freakin state of non-movement because of this! They don't want TWA F/A's back! I am so f#$%Ing sick of hearing about this! My life is on hold because of the furlough status. Why the hell would anyone want to come back anytway?

Before this thread gets hijacked and turned into yet another %$#@*&^%$ing thread about divine retribution being visited on the AA F/A's,I'm going to go out on a limb and venture the "Big Announcement" is Nothing.

Now watch, they'll announce an order of 50 787's and 250 739's. 😛

Guys - I can guarantee you that any AAirplane order comes AFTER AA reaches agreement with the APA, not the other way around. Think back to Nov 1996 when AA was itchin' to order about two dozen 777s and about three dozen 738s plus a slew of RJs; AA and the APA reached a TA and AA publicly announced its intentions to place the huge airplane order, contingent upon ratification. The APA voted down the TA and it wasn't until the following year that AA and the APA finally got a signed agreement. THEN, and only then, did AA actually order the jets (and even more RJs than announced back in 1996).

SO, if AA is ready to talk big airplane order, then AA and the APA are already well on their way to reaching a new TA. Which would be quite a feat since openers have just been exchanged. B)

FWAAA,
THAT(whole thing) sounds like "solid logic" !!!!!!!!

This may or may not be related, but is anyone aware that AA filed an application with Boeing to be a GOLD CARE provider for the 787?

Boeing is offering a service called GOLD CARE in which customers who buy a specific Boeing aircraft will have maintenance, engineering, logistics of parts and supplies taken care of by Boeing through other maintenance facilities. American has applied to be a GOLD CARE provider for the 787 which means all 787s will have maintenance, engineering and logistics handled by AA at TULSA. This is a pretty big deal. Other airlines worldwide have applied to be GOLD CARE providers for each Boeing fleet.

Now, this is not a rumor. But if there were a major announcement to be made, it may include the purchase of 787s along with the GOLD CARE contract!

GOLD CARE PROVIDER deal.

More money for AA through contract work.

I see more stock options and pay increases for upper mgmt

I've said it before and I'll say it again.
Grayhound is buying AA out, All aircraft will be repainted in Grayhound livery, but it will be spelled "GRAAYHOUND". Now thats one way to start a rumor.

<_< -----For once Hopeless I believe you may be on to something! I know for sure aa was talking to Boeing about something like his. Ironicaly the TWA Unions were talking to Boeing to do the same thing five years ago just before the buy-out. 😉

It's no surprise that AA would want to be a gold care provider for the 787, since it's likely to be in the fleet at some point or in the fleet of other carriers who now don't have the ability to do their own overhaul.

AA also subleased a 777 to participate in the 787 flight control testing program, but that doesn't mean that there are orders about to be announced anytime soon.

As FWAAA already mentioned, AA has never announced orders (in post-dereg history, at least....) while a pilot contract was still in negotiations. They'd be foolish to do so, since new aircraft are one of the few carrots the company has to dangle at the pilots.

And I'm sure that 787 pay rates will be negotiated in the current pilot negotiations. but that doesn't mean that there are orders about to be announced anytime soon.
