AA........Menage A Trois

Redbone,

It was not so long ago, that Checchi/Wilson had NW "street walking", but Carty(AA) would'nt "pony up" the $1B asking price.

Don't get me wrong. I have IMMEDIATE family working at BIG RED, and I'm VERY watchful for their continued prosperity, BUT, my friend, DO NOT EVER think that NW won't "drop their panties", , if the price is right. 🙄

AND,
as I mentioned before, in an earlier post, US/Parker, WILL "latch onto someone".THAT YOU CAN TAKE TO THE BANK!!

(Just maybe It'll be NW)

NH/BB's

I'm just stirring the pot having some fun.

It is all SOOOOO out of our hands. All any of us can really do is ride and hope for the best.

Who knows...SW might step in and tell EVERYBODY to sit the hell down!

Those running NW will do what it's biggest creditors tell it to do. And they will tell it to go where they can make the MOST money on their return NW/Dal. Ten dollars now or 50 dollars in a few years. That is what it boils down to.

P.S. Everything and everybody can be bought, INCLUDING AA. Don't ever think that it can not. Remember, once upon a time there was NO airline on this planet as rich and powerful as Pan American World Airways...don't ever think that just because you are at AA you will be here down the road.

AA is a canadate as well. Lots of cash and a strong balance sheet. makes it very attractive.

Two reasons. AA's balance sheet reads $30.9 BILLION in debt. Number two. AA's focus is to try to remain OUT of BK.

NWA will exit BK in 2ed quarter of 07 and will be the leanest money machine flying of the majors (never mind they stole it from the dinner tables of it's employees), which means US's ONLY window of opportunity is quickly fading (as NWA and Dal prepared for BK exit) US will be relegated to the neither world of 2ed tier LCC domestic shuttle.

Now why do you think AA wants to stay out of BK? Maybe it's because you can count on one hand how many airlines that have declared BK and were arounf fifteen years latter. And that hand can be missing a couple fingers.

What makes you think NWA is going to be the "leanest money machine flying" when it exits BK? What in the history of airlines and BK makes you believe that? Before you say "Continental" let me point out something people seem to forget. After thier second BK filling in 1990 CAL should have been a lean mean money making machine right. At least according to your logic. Well guess what, they were anything but. In fact shortly after Gordon Bethune took over it becasme apparent CAL was going to go broke. So much for BK making a company a leam money making machine. Fortanetly for CAL someone like Gordon Bethune came along and not someone like oh lets say Doug Steenland.

Because it is the FIRST to make money while IN BK. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what will happen when it doesn't have the burden of BK sucking it's cash.

NW should have NEVER been allowed to enter BK (with well over $1 billion in cash). The "talent" took it into bk for one reason and that was to strip it's labor contracts down to the bone. Bk has been used as a leg up on the competition. It is unethical and disgusting...but so are most airline management bonues and retirement packages.

Your logic regarding BK and Cal is simplistic. Elementary understanding of finance would clearly know that not all Bk are the same. It appears NW had a well thought out plan (they USED BK for the purpose of beating the competition, unfortunately the law allowed it...just ask United)

Secondly, NW was the best run major airline in the history of American aviation (28 years of straight profit)before the poisonous LBO.

It made the mistake of being well run, ZERO debt, completely owned fleet, and hoards of cash made it irresistible.

(the correct spelling for Steenland is Stealin)

"Bone",

Believe me, none of us AAers think that AA "could'nt be bought"
(You may remember that we had one of the richest guys on the PLANET after AA......."BAD hairdoo TRUMP". Fortunately for us, he was up against "uncle" Bobby CRANDELL)

What we(AAers) DO believe, is that AA is the LEAST LIKELY to be bought !!
(Plz feel free to dis-agree)

"This" is (also) nothing new, with these two carriers,(AA/NW). They've been flirting with each other for years.
(A claim, NO other carrier can make, pertaining to AA)

ps,
Sorry to cut this short Redbone. I've got to go over to the SOUTWEST board, to "#### slap" some *ucking NITWIT  who's ranting and raving about AA drawing down service at DAL.
Jesus. With all the noise this friggin' MORON is making, you'd think "Wal-mart with wings" just got awarded 10 non-stop routes into London HEATHROW

With problems and all PHL remains US' largest revenue generator and profitable city in the system, you won't see it going anywhere.

All of this thread is just speculation, of course. Of the nature of "If I ruled the world..." However, my mole at Centerport has stopped giving me any information. When I have asked if there is any truth to the AA/NWA merger rumors, the mole just hems and haws and evades the question. (Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean there aren't some people out to get me, you know.)

Me: Is there any truth to the AA/NWA merger rumors?
Mole: Well, uh...That's, uh, an interesting question...and, uh, that would certainly be a combination...and, uh, how 'bout them Cowboys!!! Uh, I have to go to a meeting. (The last means nothing. Being a denizen of Centerport, the mole ALWAYS has a meeting to go to.)

<_< ----- I guess we'll have to wait and see how this all works out! But I don't see aa going into another full merger/buy-out with anyone! One of the first questions Congress would ask is: "Well how did the last one work out?" 😉 And they'ed need their approval, now won't they?---- But picking up some of the peaces, now that's another story!

Because it is the FIRST to make money while IN BK.

There's a distinction worthy of a medal.... At the end of the day, if you've raped and demoralized your workforce, it doesn't really matter if you post a paper profit or not. And it won't do much for your future credit rating.

Once contracts are gutted and payments on debt stop, it's just an accounting exercise on whether or not you want to turn a profit or not on paper.

Profit or not, NWA is still a failed company that had to retreat behind the bankruptcy laws instead of taking the honorable route and paying their debts.

Because it is the FIRST to make money while IN BK. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what will happen when it doesn't have the burden of BK sucking it's cash.

And you accuse me of using simplistic logic.

Sounds a lot like what Frank Lorenzo did.

If the reason for NWA’s coming financial success is because they screwed the employees it seems to me that all NWA has is a house of cards. Having read your posts about NWA it’s rather apparent that you have little love for or faith in the head office. Yet you seem to think that they are capable of leading the company to new found riches. Odd.

Your logic regarding BK and Cal is simplistic. Elementary understanding of finance would clearly know that not all Bk are the same. It appears NW had a well thought out plan (they USED BK for the purpose of beating the competition, unfortunately the law allowed it...just ask United)

Yes I realize that all BK’s are different. As I tired to point out to you there is a definite trend when it comes to airlines and BK. But I guess you were to busy drinking the "BK is our salvation" Kool-Aid.

Secondly, NW was the best run major airline in the history of American aviation (28 years of straight profit)before the poisonous LBO.

Where to begin. First this statement is an opinion, not a fact. Second, the leadership of NWA that was responsible for all those years of profit are either retired or pushing up daises. In addition those years of profitability mean nothing now don't they. And here’s another tid bit of airline history. At one time Eastern was one of the most profitable airlines in the business.

I just wanted to echo what you said. I've thought for awhile that it's been awfully quiet in HDQ1. It's as if everyone signed the same non-disclosure agreement.

I hate it when that happens.

(it could be also, they're trying to keep a low profile because of the huge bonuses they're about to get)
