Came across this the other day when reviewing the Allegiant F/A page:

The TWU has demonstrated our commitment to Allegiant Flight Attendants through education, resources, advisors, expenses, a contract campaign, and compensation for the hard work that your Negotiating Team has devoted to securing a fair contract and a better workplace. These funds to support our Local 577 Sisters and Brothers do not come from a large corporation writing a check, they come from the Flight Attendants at Southwest Airlines, the Mechanics at American Airlines and the Transit Workers in the New York MTA who willingly give their dues so that you can have your own Union and enjoy the protection of a fair Contract.   That has not changed and we are as committed as we have always been to achieve that.

As you may know Allegiant is a fast growing ULCC flying older MD-80 aircraft (some ex-AA) from secondary cities to their bases in Florida and Las Vegas.  They have been negotiating unsuccessfully for over three years and have not obtained contract.

Just curious how many AA TWU members "willingly" gave their dues to pay for Allegiant F/As?

The twu could not negotiate it's way out of a brown paper bag
Concession after concession for the last 20 years

So did you, as an American Airlines mechanic, willingly allow your dues to pay for the Allegiant F/A drive as the bulletin states?

The Allegiant F/As were just organized and are fighting for their first contract. Not unusual for E Boards to vote to support another local without membership approval if it is in their bylaws.

Yes but this is the first time I have seen the word "willingly" used.  I could understand the international and ATD using money for organizing (unions are businesses after all) but I highly doubt any AA, WN, MTA employees (or other TWU members) willing gave their dues to this.

Allegiant has been organized for over three years now.  They have replaced nearly the entire negotiating committee.

The International dismantled organizing at the Int'l/ATD level. All organizing was pushed down to the locals after the Lombardo team took over. There are no reps employed by the Int'l for over a year now since the last convention. One of the cost cutting measures at the Int'l. Now locals must support other locals on organizing.

Negotiations cost lots of money especially when they take three years.
