I don't suppose any US Airways-East remember this:

Merger Committee Update

7/19/05

For the past several weeks your Merger Committee has been focused on getting organized and getting support people in place and up to speed. It is a huge task preparing for the complex process of a seniority list integration. Our integration with America West will involve more pilots than any merger in ALPA history.

For starters we'd like to introduce you to the key members of your merger team. We are very fortunate to have such a talented and experienced group of individuals willing to give their time and effort to protect the best interests of the US Airways pilots.

Merger Committee Members

Kevin served ...

Capt. Philip Carey (Seniority Number 1415)

Phil started as a Family Awareness group leader ...

Capt. Bob Kirch (Seniority Number 1467)

F/O Rick Spurlock (Seniority Number 2563)

Bob is a computer consultant who ..

In addition to the above individuals we have also secured the services of various experts who can provide information as needed but would primarily be used for testimony should we need to go to arbitration.

Over the next couple of weeks we will continue our organizational efforts. During the week of July 25 we are scheduled to travel to PHX to informally meet with the America West Merger Committee. The purpose of this first meeting is to get acquainted with our counterparts and their seniority list. There are a lot of details surrounding positions and bidding that are unique to each airline.

Once we receive an official copy of the America West pilots' seniority list, the process of examining the specific issues of this seniority integration will begin. At this point no list integrations have been done and obviously no positions have been established. This process will take some time.

ALPA Merger Policy specifies 5 goals for seniority list integration.....

ALPA Merger Policy makes no mention of date of hire or any other method of achieving these goals. The Merger Representatives must determine which method or combinations of methods best meet the goals. The goals all address what your seniority will buy upon integration and into the future. This is the yardstick of fairness by which any proposed method of integration must be judged.

The five goals mentioned above along with the rest of ALPA Merger Policy are available on the Merger Committee web page at usairwayspilots.org. Pilots should access this page for the latest in merger information. It will soon be possible to submit questions to the Merger Committee. This will be a great way to check out the validity of rumors you may hear on the line. Once again, we urge you to check this page often for the latest and most accurate merger information.

This process without a doubt can be divisive, both between the pilot groups and within the pilot groups. When the integration process is complete, we need to be able to move forward with one pilot group that is as unified as possible. When it is all said and done, we can become one formidable group of pilots....

Shortly after this....the East went after DOH and LOS.

Some East complaints are that West guys can take upgrades on the East coast. I think it is fair to conclude that you are speaking of a very small percentage. The pilots that live in the desert and west coast like that lifestyle. Your East FO's should largely do most of the East upgrades.

Are you sure that you want to spend your money and time in dropping ALPA or fighting a BINDING ARBITRATION?
