Not seeing the bigger picture? The issue isn't about reserves making decisions for themselves but BENDING OVER for the company. You ask how the company would find relief? My worry is about the employee NOT the company and their inability to staff correctly. Why do you think the company was so quick to sign away on this? Enlighten us PLEASE! ! ! !

I am one of the reserves in a base that I never make my time. We are not short. We welcome a chance to make some money. Flights weren't cancelled over Christmas because they were short staffed on f/as. We have blockholders who get themselves down to 4 days of work a month with VAC and ETB. I'd gladly pick up extra time. Who cares what the motive is from the company or AFA, just let me make some money!!!!

Refer to post 300. It's spot on. Look a little further than your "wallet". It's the big picture that many are missing. It's not a chance for YOU to make extra money but for the company to have reserves as their "female dogs" to clean up their mess that THEY create. Want relief and not be short over a holiday? NEGOTIATE IT. Stop the BS. The company ONLY wants a sideletter when it benefits THEM. What are you people missing. We're ALL in trouble if this kind of thinking is the the majority. Holy Hell.

I am a reserve F/A, and I agree with the way the LECP's voted on the Company's proposed side letter. If the company cannot negotiate issues like equal pay for West F/A's or equal Vacation for East F/A's outside of Single Contract Negotiations, why should AFA negotiate relief for management's poor planning outside of those Negotiations? Especially, when truth be told, we can already get "deals" from scheduling when they are hurting for F/A's -- "must rides" to and from base. etc. .... It's amazing what a reserve can get for giving up an INV day when nobody else will answer the phone. So, as said above, Kudos to the LECP's who see the Big Picture.

BINGO! ! ! ! Some reserves thought that it would have given them a way to supplement their income. What some STILL fail to realize is that this was concessionary in nature as it HELPED the company. It is NOT the company helping you. ALL F/A'S need to stand firm and demand a livable contract. No more patchwork BS. Again I'll ask, "Why do any of you think the company was so quick to sign off on this little diddy? Mmmm hmmmm I thought so. Might as well tattoo US Airways on your backside. 🙄

Shame on you for not seeing the bigger picture. The reserves on this property are big enough to decide for themselves if they want to work on their INV days or not.

Well, THIS FlyOnWall sees the big picture and allowing this to happen would have been ludicrous. TIME IS TIME. Pay and credit. No one should have to work on their off days just to get by. The separation of 'ETB time' and 'company time' is absolutely criminal as is the division of F/As into 'blockholders' and 'reserves'. The entire culture of Haves and Have-Nots at this airline needs to go. I hope this is a sign of the F/As finally getting a backbone and seeing the broader implications of what they agree to instead of whoring themselves out for a few bucks on off days like rats desperately hoarding crumbs.

The ONLY reason this wasn't roll called had to do with personal issues with each LECP. If it were roll called it would have passed and reserves would have been bigger hussies for this airline than they already are. 🙄

Shame on you for not seeing the bigger picture. The reserves on this property are big enough to decide for themselves if they want to work on their INV days or not. Just because this was signed as a side letter doesn't mean any reserve would of taken advantage of it. So what relief is there for the company if no one made themselves AVL on an INV day? Who cares what motivated the company this isn't about the company, this is about providing some much needed economical relief for the reserves on this property outside of a single agreement. Which obviously the union has decided they will not negotiate either. This was completely VOLUNTARY on behalf of the reserves there was no guarantee of relief for the company on days they needed it. What fools we have making decisions on our behalf.

Shame on you...this is about going around our contract. This about the company asking for "relief" yet they have not given the reserves an ounce of relief...Nor anyone else either.

We have been trying to negoticatate for 4 years and we get nothing.....drag their feet...piss away this that and the other. Sorry.....over...done............

Don't try to make like Mike was doing anyone a favor. If he thought it was a cool thing, he's out of touch. He may need to rethink a few things.

I, for one am glad the LEC's did their job and said "Hell No". And didn't let it pass. That's their job and I think they did well.

Seriously, read the end of the proposal ... Pay-No-Credit trips awarded to volunteers after everyone else ... including those assigned into OFF days.

I, for one, will not sign up for an O-Dark-30 check-in, 6-leg-a-day, min-overnight, 7-dirty-7 trip that nobody else will fly ... on my day(s) off.

And only when they declare an operational alert when vacation buyback is offered. Once again on thier terms when THEY fail to plan do they offer a half eaten corn dog to the reserve group. It's a crappy deal period. Just glad it got send back to Tempe with a NO vote.

I am still confused about the PHL/ DCA LEC votes. Could not they have passed this side letter, due to the sheer size of their bases? If so, why didn't they push it?

And it's this mentality, folks, that permeates the FA corps. I'm so financially desperate, I'll do anything!

This is why I have stopped my "split from the pilots" promoting and ranting, because I know that no matter what the Company and the AFA put in front of us in terms of a Tentative Agreement, good or horrible, it will ratify.

I have been flying for the last six days, and not one flight attendant had any idea about this recent LEC vote, not one. BH or RSV. 🙄

Hey Fly,

In my opinion, I think it is pretty clear how we ended up with the "contract" we now work under......

PEOPLE (F/As) DON'T GET IT....and probably never will.

I don't think the MEC and Negotiators do either.

It is real simple:

The company was trying to negotiate our contract OUTSIDE of negotiations. The company WOULDN'T do it to bring the WEST's pay up to parity with the the EAST's unless there was a JNC.....but the COMPANY now thinks it's OK to negotiate a side letter to benefit them and do it by throwing throwing the reserves a couple of morsels?

Wake up people.
What was the gibberish that MF sent out regarding his thoughts regarding the matter?

The LEC's in CLT, BOS, and LGA did the right thing. What the heck was JM thinking? As for MF and AB that's pretty much was expected. Career Politicians and the same two hell bent in recalling Xidas.

How is that decision working out for the F/As now?

How much of you REALLY know what is going on with negotiations? How has the communication been to the F/A group? I think it is the worst in over 20 years, but that just me.

I can read CBS messages, and I don't need MF to regurgitate it for me. The MEC was willing to negotiate contract giving relief to the company, the same company that was unwilling to do so outside of negotiations in a side letter. Why don't you get your "contract" out and read all the side letters that have the name AUSTIN on them. They have benefited us so much over the years.

You know the same company negotiating committee that was unwilling to grant relief to the West F/As in a side letter and bring them up to East parity outside of JNC .......but now it's OK when it benefits their mismanagement?

WTFO?

I just want to know what MF CA are busy conceding away to Tempe be able say "that we will have a contract by the end of the year, and we will be split form the pilots". Really? Not going to get into the split or not to split debate - because it is effective as beating one's head against the wall. But remember you heard it here, Junior will now be even more junior, and say "buh bye" to anymore long layovers on the west coast. As for the trips being more efficient - they could be now. Yea....more efficient trips: Bollocks.

Don't know about you - elections are coming up and it's time for a "FLEET ENEMA"......all the incumbents need to go- even if they are doing nothing wrong. We desperately need NEW BLOOD in the union and It's time for a long overdue regime change. I want someone in the union that represents the line F/A, not their own political or career agenda. Vote the incumbents out regardless.

Unless you are content with the state of your profession, the way YOU are being represented to our so called management, and the way decisions made by management that impact the F/A group daily.

Maybe the F/As can finally vote ON THEIR election by a margin greater than 25%. We all know that 100% CAN complain (even though "everyone voted against it") let's see if they can vote in a local election and ACTUALLY do something to change the union and their profession for the better.

Denial is a wonderful thing.
Quit making excuses and do something about it.
