Airbus Considers Sacrificing A350

A380 is going to be a flop, A350 probably scapped.
I'll bet a souped up A330 will be in the works.
I'd also bet that unless we get a give away for the A330(may happen) the 787 will be in our future.

That 787 is turning out great isn't it?
Who were those that bashed the 380 for being late?

[sub]A350 may well be dead for US Airways, anyway, not much of a need with all the AA wide bodies....[/sub]

FWIW from a flight attendant perspective, I just attended training on the 777-300ER in December. The A350 would have to go some to top the 300ER. It is a gorgeous airplane with some incredible crew and passenger amenities.

Actually AA would most likely expand their European route network if they had enough wide bodies to do it.

AA has 20 77Ws on the way by the end of 2014. That's in addition to 47 existing 772s and 58 763s. There's no shortage of widebody capacity at AA. And that doesn't include the 787s due to show up beginning n the fourth quarter of 2014 (they may be delayed, of course) to begin replacing old 763s.

Some speculation that the 350 would be a replacement for the 767's.

Nice 7 year thread resurrection. (For a minute I thought Boing Boy was back)

Anyone hear about Airbus making some altercations to the power source of the A350s? To supposedly prevent Boeing's current fiasco... I'd be surprised if US even accquired 350s after the merger. Though I'd be more ecstatic to see them then the 787s.

Are the 350 orders US has firm or can they be canceled or changed to something like 330s?

I would imagine that they could be changed to 330's, but an all out cancellation would involve some fees.

It would be a shame to not get the A350 since we are the launch customer (at least for the US.) But, assuming a consummated merger, there is little reason to add a new fleet type when AA has 777 deliveries scheduled.

It would be really great to see the New American make more inroads across the Pacific with the 777s, and see the A350 make more inroads across the Atlantic into the Middle East. The A330-200 is sometimes marginal for TLV service, and the A350 would allow more effective service to that area of the world from the east coast and midwest.

Not sure where he went either. While he did post some good factual information, he also projected a grudge that he carried since the PI/US merger in 1989.

Jeez, I thought this was a recent article too. Old threads should die out if they aren't commented on for over a year.
