PITTSBURGH, March 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Following is the text of a letter
sent today by Pennsylvania Auditor General Jack Wagner to Bruce Lakefield, US
Airways' chief executive officer:

Mr. Lakefield,

As a customer, taxpayer and elected officer of the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania, charged with monitoring the spending of state money, I am deeply
disturbed by newspaper accounts of your airline's plan to outsource to Central
America hundreds of good-paying jobs - including those from a reservations
center in Green Tree.

This plea for decency is already in the trash, along with the careers of all the hard working members of labor that remain at USAirways.

From the article:
"As a state senator, I joined with my Democratic colleagues from Allegheny County to deliver $404 million in financial aid to Allegheny County to be provided from gaming slots revenue. About $150 million is dedicated to retiring Pittsburgh International Airport debt, which will benefit your airline through lower lease payments."

Hey Pennsylvania, make them do the right thing, and have them repay their own debt!

Reports in the newspaper? They are behind the curve aren't they?

Talk about closing the barn door after all the livestock have run out.

standard operating procedure in these parts peet....sorry to say...

Well that was a waisted letter. Lakefield does not care!!!!! Does he really think that letter will make a difference? It seems that almost everything is being outsourced....what does that tell you?????

Well Pennsylvania join the long list of those who have been lied to, stolen from and generally screwed over by USAirways. Feels good huh?

Not a suprise. Actually, we're better off with a cumbersome bureaucracy.

Uair is in chapter 11. I thought, from previous experience, that that gave management the right to lie and steal, as long as it suits their purpose. A judge in Virginia thinks so.....

It tells me that you can claim, that an organized plan to ship the majority of middle class American jobs out of the country is just a conspiracy theory, but you cannot deny that it is a popular business trend.

I do not like sending any American job offshore, but Wagner could have privately sent his letter to Lakefield. Why was it a press release? He is an politician looking for votes, which is self-serving.

Best regards,

Anybody see the irony in this 320 quote?

You beat me savy

320 You have the gall to criticize someone for putting out a PR? At least what he said was all true as opposed to the outright self-serving garbage you spew forth.

This isn't political. It is about reducing costs and attracting equity investors so Airways can get out of BK and survive. The company is heading in the right direction with a solid leadership team and a great group of hard working and dedicated employees. We must focus on the future and work together as a unified team.
