MEC CODE-A-PHONE UPDATE - September 3, 2004 #2

This is Jack Stephan with a second US Airways MEC update for Friday, September 3rd, with two new items.

Item 1. The Negotiating Committee gave the Company a proposal late this afternoon. This proposal will be available tomorrow morning on the pilots only home page under “Negotiating Committee Information.â€￾

The Company is currently evaluating our proposal and will meet with our Negotiating Committee tomorrow morning to discuss our proposal and their response. MEC Chairman Bill Pollock has called the MEC back into session at 11:00am Saturday morning, at the Key Bridge Marriott in Arlington, VA, to receive an update from the Negotiating Committee.

As this next meeting could very well be the discussion of a Tentative Agreement or a final proposal, all pilots are urged to attend. If that indeed occurs, the MEC will then make the determination if this final proposal/agreement would be sent to the membership for ratification.

Please note that this hotel does not provide transportation from the airport and that portions of the reconvened meeting may be in closed session.

We realize the anxiety that exists in monitoring the progress of these negotiations. As each day of continued negotiations may impact the time that we have to ballot the membership, it is critical that all pilots stay up to date on the proposals that are submitted during these final days. We still plan on providing you with educational materials, web casts, Comm. Center activation and road shows to assist in your understanding of any prospective tentative agreement, but with the timeframe we now have, it is even more important for all pilots to become familiar with these latest table positions.

As always, please refer to the code a phone and the pilots only website for the latest information on Transformation Plan Negotiations.

Item 2. There is a posting on the pilots only Jets for Jobs Information Page that provides a class schedule for MidAtlantic for October, November and December 2004. Please note that all bids must be received by midnight, September 6, 2004. For further information, please refer to the J4J webpage.

Please remember we have 1,879 pilots on furlough.

Thank you for listening.

ALPA provided the company with their final proposal today that provides a $295 million cost cut.

The Company and the ALPA Negotiating Committee will meet at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, September 4 and then the MEC will reconvene at 11:00 a.m. where a vote on a tentative agreement will occur.

Respectfully,

USA320Pilot

Thanks for the info. If, as you say, ALPA has truly offered the majic 295 figure, then there should be no retort from the company right? They will promptly accept said proposal with no counter, right?

Right?
