MEC CODE-A-PHONE UPDATE - March 17, 2004
This is Jack Stephan with a US Airways MEC update for Wednesday, March 17th, with one new item.
The MEC reconvened its regular first quarter meeting today at the Days Hotel and Conference Center in Dulles, Va., and held MEC officer elections. The results are as follows:
Captain Bill Pollock was reelected MEC Chairman.
Captain Kim Snider was reelected MEC Vice Chairman.
Captain Mike D’Angelo was reelected MEC Secretary-Treasurer.
Their two-year terms are effective March 22.
In a press release issued this afternoon, Captain Pollock stated that the officers “look forward to participating in the creation of a revised business plan that will restore profitability to our airline†and calls on senior management to “initiate this corporate transformation by repairing US Airways’ corporate culture . . . through direct communication with their employees, more coordination with ALPA and other labor groups, and accountability for management decisions.â€
The MEC also received reports from the Over 85 Hour and R&I committees.
The meeting’s remaining schedule is as follows:
For tomorrow, March 18th, the schedule continues with the election for the ALPA-appointed member of the US Airways Board of Directors and consideration of agenda items in plenary and subcommittee.
For Friday, March 19th, the schedule concludes with the elections of Committee chairmen, a Wilson Center for Public Research presentation from Phil Comstock and consideration of agenda items in plenary and subcommittee.
The meeting is scheduled to reconvene at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow and Friday at the Days Hotel and Conference Center in Dulles, Va. Candidates for committee positions are invited to address the MEC during this time.
