ALPA/USAPA /West thread 4/6-4-12

To quote another poster:

Are we going to go through this crap again?

Which carrier saved which carrier?

Answer: NO WE'RE NOT.

Again, once and for all, this thread is about the unions and their positions, NOT about which airline saved which. DO NOT GO THERE again.

If there is one more post about who saved whom, this thread will be closed and there will be no other pilot labor thread until the next regular cycle.

And DO NOT make personal attacks or insults--one strike and you're out. Some of you have already learned that.

We're serious......

Thank You.

Oh please,
Grow up! Read this:

"...Parker, more than any other industry player, sparked this turnaround in sentiment with what appears to be a startlingly successful merger of the old US Airways, a carrier that has been in bankruptcy court twice since 2001, and his America West Airlines, a much smaller company that badly needed a cash infusion.

He raised $866 million from outside investors and brought the airlines together in time to catch an updraft in ticket pricing that has restored the industry to a rare state of profitability..."

Do you need any other facts?

Later,
Eye

Eye,

hey i thought according to you easties all the money was raised by Lakefield???

The law was crafted to protect smaller entities from larger ones. Next week we become one entity. There will be no East and no West. Among other things, that is what this election will achieve. With respect to ALPA, it's laws, it's appointed arbitrators - they could very well become irrelevant. At the very least we achieve a "change of venue".

I agree with one thing you said, it will be "one small problem".

As far as your comment about angry FO's, here is a sampling of the immature and hostile labels used by the West to describe the East:
USCABS, USAPIANS, YELLOW DOGS, SOB's, USUCKA, Eastholes and many more with variations on each. They are now sporting stickers that say USAPA=SCAB. Some are going around with clickers.

I would say that both sides are angry, but the group out west is out of control.

Six days to go.
Six days to go before we put a lid on this fire.....

DP couldn't sober up in time and Lakefield had to do all the work.

Besides, seeing how Tempe has lowered the bar below ground level, he likely does not want his name associated with a lead balloon like US has become. Lorenzo showed how to get blood out of a turnip, Parker showed how to kill a golden goose.

That would be former stock clerk, recording secretary, trustee, shop steward, editor (both district and local level), district communicator and negotiating committee member.

Who has attend Placid Harbor and taken all the leadership classes.

I have provided factual cases, prove me wrong.

What is your education and union experience?
So whats that prove.

My experience? I got to vote in the NMB election which closes next week. Did you? No?

This is the ALPA/USAPA thread. No one here cares what you have to say, and no one here has to prove you wrong about anything.

You are a non-entity as far as the pilots are concerned. You don't exist. You're simply the static that we annoyingly have to tune out.

Consider yourself tuned out.

You seem to forget that this is a public discussion board and while you have the right to tune out anything you don't want to see or hear, 700 has a right to express himself within the guidelines established by USAviation. I have also advocated, numerous times, that pilots take this discussion to a non-public forum. Had you done that no one but pilots would be discussing this matter to any significant extent on a public message board.

The National Mediation Board's recent actions are disturbing on several levels.

First it is disturbing that the NMB is reevaluating which pilots are eligible to vote in the election that commenced back in March. It seems unconscionable to me that an impartial administrator of a free and fair election could actually review eligibility of voters after they have already voted, not to mention that an impartial administrator could even begin an election without having eligibility established. It seems a little suspect that the eligibility rules have suddenly been discovered to be different than they were before the NMB distributed balloting instructions (or that the NMB simply failed to apply the rules the first time.)

It is also disturbing that the NMB apparently has the ability to "sneak into" a free and fair election and determine which "ineligible" votes were cast, when I as a voter cannot even have any record of who I voted for. I can't be trusted with what I vote on but the NMB can be trusted to know what I can't, and I have to trust them that they are making the right decision for me, when they seem to be in favor of taking prejudicial action against the pilots that probably think the way I do.

Are we in PHL again?

Wow. I'm really impressed. Here's another opening that your experience should qualify you for:

I found it disturbing that ficticious cards were used to generate the vote. Pilots that turned down the recall and have ceased employment with USAirways had amazingly submitted cards.

You find the use of ineligble votes part of a FREE and FAIR election. Nice idea comrade.

You've finally said something instructive.

This your attitude is why pilots get no respect from a large percentage of our fellow employees.
