America West At Winston Res Center

Drifter,
Would you care to comment on phxres post about the working conditions in the Tempe res center? The reason why Im asking is you keep telling everyone on this forum how good things are in the reservations center and how Doug takes care of his people.
Truth is not only is the Tempe res center a sweatshop but the Ramp and Customer Service are just as bad but you keep posting otherwise giving the employees of US Air a false sense of hope. Dont you think these people have a right to know how management at AWA really treat their employees?

Then you're in the wrong res center. Things are great in RNO. A lot better than they ever were at U. I know.

Dont let their young ages fool you into thinking that they are going to go easy on you . They are in the business of making money. Huge amounts of money. And you dont rake in millions of dollars a day at reservations by paying the employees a healthy wage.

At phoenix reservations , the term "sweatshop" is the only thing to come to mind. I am an eight year agent and get only 2.5 weeks vacation and make only $9.31 an hour...thats it ..... 😱 But you should see what kind of calls we have to take for that small amount of money...we are not taking the same "kind" of call after call, like you US air res agents. We are a "onestop" reservation center. which means we take ALL different types of calls from pax. Non-rev, standby calls, international calls, change in e-ticket calls, flight fund calls, domestic sales calls,etc, etc......Do you us air agents do the SAME thing.....I think not! I called your non-rev line and got someone in manilla and then got another person in mexico........So you us air employees are making more money by doing less work........ :shock:

:down: you always have the option of quiting. In fact do us a favor and go now.
You forget to mention the great flight benifits and very good medical coverage for you and your family. The Phx area has a lot of call centers, so you could go elsewhere. The grass is always greener on the other side. You missed the whole concept of "get on Board" :cop:

But hopefully someone from HP will read this and investigate the outsourced offices. There is no way to know how much they are costing US at present time.

This is hilarious... funny thing however is that this is so sad. For those of us who have a clue what we are doing, we would do we would hang up and keep trying until we got someone over here... but what about the non-frequent flyer, Mom and Pop? They are going to take their business elsewhere.

How long is it going to take CCY (or now Tempe) to realize this and bring those jobs back to the states where they belong??? :huh:

Jim,

Just as soon as they've gotten rid of the legacies costs, and can replace them off the street.

Wait and see: I've seen the Siegel Maneuveur before.

What intrigued me is that they stuck around for 8.5 years and they complain how miserable they are. Southwest has a res center in Phoenix. Why not go there if AWA was whippin' them slaves so much? :huh:

Sometimes I think people allow themselves to be a victim.

Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya!

Eight years, huh?
[post="290048"][/post]

yeah, eight years...drink that fact in...... Also absorb the fact that america west is a young company in comparison to US.Air........... However,we do have a few agents that have been on the res center phones for over 14years and make just 12 dollars per hour......But! These are STELLAR agents that have been given EVERY possible raise they could get EVERY year throughout their career.....Unfortunately, that is the exception, and not the rule....There are several agents that have 16-18 years seniority with HP, but because they were disliked by their supervisor somewhere along the way of their career and didnt get the raises, make just 12 dollars an hour....(Our pay caps out at 14 per hour)......So now I ask you, where is the reward for STAYING with such a Poorly paying company?.....the flight benefits?....yeah right!....Cant PAY YOUR BILLS ON FLIGHT BENEFITS now can you??????........Unless you have a professional currier transporting (stuff) on the weekends from city to city using the free flight benee's....like me.....but nuff' on that........
Getting back to the subject,........You US Air people dont understand,this company(AWA) MAKES MONEY$$$$$$$$ by having a HIGH TURNOVER RATE in the res center.....TRAINING NEW HIRES is just ANOTHER source of REVENUE for HP!!!!!..We have a new hire traing class EVERY MONTH..That is a well documented fact...You people in US Air resewrvations havent had a new hire training class in HOW long?...

And dont worry I wont let the door hit me in my *ss on the way out.....This company makes it EASY to leave on a DAILY basis........I am just staying to see how this merger is going to work-out.......and to finish my currier duties......

I sure would like to see the gun that was held to your head to force you to stay! Oh wait, I forgot, the AWA res center and the livestock yard are the only jobs available in Phoenix.

OKOKOK! that's enuf all! Yes, there are some major issues that have gone on at Phx res and much of which has made absolutely no sense. You have to remember back a couple years ago when Patrick left and they brought in "flowers.com" man! The certification processes has ultimately caused a lack of quality customer service by rushing folks fresh out of 90 days into Flightfund, then Web, and one class that I know if in 2 years into QM. However, most of them had been at HP about 2 years to begin with. Either way, I don't believe you can run an effective reservation center unless management themselves have actually sat and worked in our positions for at least one year in every department. Constant concerns about compliance causes so many agents to get nervous and then rush thru their calls to get off the fon in time for breaks or lunches that errors are being made right and left. The res center managment team only has the responsibility of reporting "stats" to corporate. "Stats" ultimately does not tell you if the customer has been serviced in a professional, qualified manner. Hiring people with absolutely no customer service skills or ANY fon etiquette is another major issue in my book! So, yes these are issues which I do hope will begin to change with the merger.

However, our concern also is that none of us may have jobs due to the outsourcing that US airways has done. I find it absolutely an embarrassment if I were a CEO of ANY COMPANY that outsourced into these other countries that are totally cluelss about the American way of life, let alone showing any empathetic customer service to our passengers. As was stated somewhere else here, they will even lie to you as to where they are, do to the fact the American public is sick and tired of never understanding them or they understanding us!

I say, if we are gonna be a "new" company..then let's be the leader (which I believe this merger really could help us to be) that I believe we can be by bringing jobs back to America! LET'S TRULY REPRESENT OUR NAME IN EVERY ASPECT......US AIRWAYS...NOT ....INTERNATIONAL AIRWAYS! Let's lead corporate America into believing in itself again and the AMERICAN way of life!

LET'S HIRE QUALITY PEOPLE that wish to learn their jobs in a professional manner and create the professional atmosphere which ultimately leads to profitability and success!

HEY WAIT A MINUTE! HOW ABOUT HIRING US AIRWAYS EMPLOYEES! You know...the one's who have gutted it out thru it all and just love their job and know their job and really care! We'll take you guys any time. It's warm in PHX but there's always RNO! JUST LEAVE THE OUTSOURCED OUT!

You have to remember that HP agents are negotiating their first contract. I'm fairly certain they arent going to accept the current $13.10/hr WITH representation. Also, this merger thing has been in the works with HP for 2? years or so. Why do you think the company started the agents negotiations at the HP payscale? I would be surprised if the HP people didnt give a wink wink at the $17 topout. If they knew they were going to be doing something soon, I cant see the company (and especially mr glASS) agreeing to something that would be a problem in getting the merger completed.
[post="281925"][/post]

Not sure if you know this...but verrrryyyyy few are even making $13.10 an hr..Average is around $9.50...I make a $ more than that only cuz the dept I'm in is higher...however, had I still been on the sales floor selling rez, after 5 years I would only be at $8.96! The same salary I started out at 5 yrs ago is the same today at $7.65 an hour. Guess they don't think that gas has gone up at least a $1 since then...but, guess by keeping it at that we are helping them pay fuel costs for the planes ey?

Bottom line, I sure don't know how anyone without a 2nd income can work in res and survive. Especially the way the cost of living in PHX is getting a lot like California! Either way, guess we do it cuz ultimately WE LOVE OUR JOBS despite the pay....kinda gets into your blood after awhile.

I've had other opportunities, but I LOVE what I do! As we get older, sometimes that's what's most important...plus I LOVE most of the people I work with. I am looking forward to meeting US Airways employees....I sure do empathize with what you have gone thru! Sure hope we can ALL succeed thru this....just do me a huge favor! TELL MGMT TO GET RID OF MANILLA, ETC! They have US! WE CARE ABOUT BEING SUCCESSFUL AS AN AMERICAN COMPANY! Isn't it more important to have caring employees, than just "cheap employees?" hmmm now there's an idea ey?!

In INT, we do take all those calls, domestic, international, reissue, non-rev, etc. and Star Alliance award bkgs which are tedious and world geopgraphy is a must, alongwith knowledge of the the route structures on other Star carriers.

Do you really believe the outsourcing is a long term solution? Contracts can be broken, we have seen it happen. I believe it was used to do some number crunching on paper for the BK to woo HP.
