America West's Fleet Transition To Us Paint Scheme

Re- the AA A300 with bare metal. I notice that the engine and tail are still painted. It makes the plane look odd having the grey paint on these areas (why isnt it silver to try to match?). If the Airbus planes have to have paint on part of them I would think the design would look better all painted.

Well, I hope it doesn't end up looking like HP's mess of a terminal in LAS. They are renovating that terminal, right? Is LAS really going to be one of the first airports to have the two completely integrated by October? The D gates are so much nicer.

Ugh... it'll probably be Faded Glory, Wal-Marts in-house brand.

Not sure about Gualtier for the uniforms. I'm not sure if alot of our F/As could get away with this (the famous outfit he designed for Madonna):

At least with that some of the gals at mainline will be wearing a much needed bra!

Ummm, yeah....no... I really dont want to see some of my fellow agents wearing that to work. Same thing with shorts. NO WAY!

PS- Isnt that part of the Hooters Air uniform? 😉

Hooters Air F/As wear a drab F/A uniform. There are also Hooters Girls on board to do thier thing, but they do not perform any flight attendant duties.

A few years ago, someone actualy wrote a question to US Airways News asking what the US stood for. The answer was that it came from USAir, in which the US obviously stands for the United States although the airline is not actually called United States Airways. It's implied and understood.

Similarly, the current PSA Airlines is simply PSA Airlines, not Pacific Southwest Airlines as it's named after. ATA Airlines is no longer American Trans Air, it's simply ATA Airlines.

USAviation's official name is not United States Aviation. You're allowed to have an abbreviation.

And KFC no longer stands for Kentucky Fried Chicken anymore, either. Fried foods being bad for you, and all that....

It's simply KFC. And that change in name makes the product SO much healthier!

Marketing --- lying with pizzazz!

i think the livery we have right now is the best in the world, seriosly, what you guys think, it looks like a "rich" airline from the colors, like a very expensive airline, and those colors have class, and the flag is the best part of it, everyone in the world says that the best colors on the a330 are the US colors, i dont want the color to go at all, and that other paint scheme the fake one with AWA waves in it and colored white, doesnt look good at all, looks very cheasy and very cheapo looking, btw, WN colors suck, stupid trashy walmart airline, never can be what US is !

I agree 100%....the livery and re-braning to Airways was, IMO, one of the few things CCY did right.

i appreciate your support hharotz !, it was a big change, the USAIR name was good, but the colors were kinda looking a little odd, even that original airline was better off back then as it is now, and plus, i dont think they should spend more money on designing etc a new livery, i know AWA is hungry for those A330's , i like AWA, 100x better colors than wal mart airline southwest, but that look on all of US planes looks just too darn cool , the colors stand out, and you can easily spot them, unlike airlines like AA, WN, they suck, never will change their colors, and the US colors at hub airports look awesome !!

Since "theme" planes might still be around I think the A330's should remain in the current US livery, keep 2 current A320's in the HP livery and 1 original HP livery, add a Piedmont and PSA (pre merger) livery on 737's and 2 old USAir in the red/white/blue colors and the original brown/orange/red on some 737's too (or A319's if the 737's are being removed).

I think that would be cool to show the complete history of the "new USAirways".

I think the current USAirways paint scheme is acceptable, just not the colors.

The dark blue, almost black color on top, has never been appealing to me and looks even less so when faded (as many ships are).

Also, I believe that on the ground cabin temperatures are affected by this dark color. Just what we don't need in the desert.

From a safety standpoint, the dark colors are nearly invisible at night on the tarmac or in low visibility conditions. A brighter color would be better.

Mainly, I just want to get rid of anything that reeks of Steven Wolf's touches. And especially Gray!

In case you haven't noticed, USAirways has become a trashy, walmart airline. (Seen the PHL B/C terminals lately?)Even after the merger, WN will have over 100 more hulls in their fleet than the combined US/AWA fleet. I say they are nothing short of brilliant by every measure.

Next time you hear a jet fly over, guess what color it will be before you look at it. My bet is that it will be Canyon Blue over Desert Sunset Orange.

All the AA MD80s are the same way. Gray tail, gray tail cones.

Years ago when we changed our name to US Air, American took us to court, saying that in thier mind, the new name was to close to American Airlines. The court threw it out.
