Ever watch the old movie where during the depression Ginger Rodgers and a man share the same room but never meet because she works days and he works nights? How about 2 massive chain gangs to do public works. More violent prisoners work days so you can see them more clearly; less violent ones work nights. They can share the same cells and you have no need for prison libraries, rec rooms, TV , etc, because when they aren't working, they'd be sleeping. Lots of honest people work night shifts and 7 days a week, why not prisoners? The only things you'd still need are an infirmary and a mess hall. In fact, they could even pick the crops in CA that everyone says we need illegals to do and the cost of produce could go down so Americans could eat better and reduce obesity. This could even have a BIG ripple effect ... less obese people=better health, so cheaper health care. Produce companies who don't have to pay wages coul supply the food for the prisoners, which = less cost to run the prisons. Keep thinking! Could work, maybe.​
