I believe we are comparing the lack of Alaska having representation!
The members vote on convention delegates to represent us! With the low turnout at Amfa the money they spent was wasted. If you do not trust the people you elect than you will never trust anyone. It wont matter what Union or association you are in.

How can we trust the people we elect at the TWU when those people have to take an oath to people we dont elect?

So as AA keeps buying 777s , with funds provided by our concessions, it appears that you boys who thought that you were saving your jobs are in fact financing its extinction. Since you never did that work on 777 parts you are not entitled to it. As the MD-80s are mothballed only to be replaced by RJs, more work that you never had, you will see more jobs dissappear. What is Tulsa down to now? Is it under the 6000 mark yet?

For the TWU it's a plus. As Eagle grows they get more members over there to make up for the ones lost in Tulsa, just like I read with other departments where the TWU allowed the company to lay off American workers and subcontract out their work to another TWU represented company-Worldwide. These people are at bottom pay rates so all they can do is go up, as they go up they fuel pay raises for Sonny and Kerrigan, who in turn get raises for everyone else at the International. Do you think they care if our pay and benifits go up or down?

I still say that poor voter turnout is bad, but not as bad as a TWU NO MEMBERSHIP VOTE AT ALL!

And with the TWU, the Cleaner does not even get a negotiator like AMFA provides.

The membership voting on Letters Of Agreement, now there's a novel idea!!! I see the membership even votes on negotiators, another novel idea. Someone said it's called Democracy. Wait just a darn minute, did someone ask Sonny Hall if this Democracy thing was ok with him???

Your lack of answering questions pretty much sums it up. BTW... I do print these threads and bring them to work for the memberships reading pleasure. Two questions that always comes up are, who is CIO(answer...twu local 514 mouthpiece), and two, why does he never answer questions(my answer...refer to answer number one). Thanks for building the AMFA's support.

You need to thank someone for sure AMFABOY. There has been no building of AMFA by through it's attributes, only through times of difficulty can a monger like AMFA dare to grow. I see why you'd be elated over anyone assisting you in your plight.

Perhaps you care to explain why SWA joined the AMFA revolution, or for that matter, any, other airline memberships dumped the cultists unions for AMFA.

Beats the heck out of me why they did. I do see why you ask though. What percentage of those that voted for AMFA do you think are still working in the airline industry?

Basically there are two reasons why people dont vote, they either dont care or dont think it will make a difference. There are other reasons but these are the most common.

If they dont care, thats there business, they must be happy enough with things the way they are without their input.

However when they dont bother to vote because they dont think it makes a difference thats a real tragedy. Since AMFA was voted in only a short time at all these carriers by majority vote it appears that a large number dont care. They must know that who ever gets in will be held accountable and subject to recall if they are not doing what the members feel they should.Since these people just went through the effort of changing unions they know that their vote makes a difference.

One of the reasons why the TWU does not want us to get a vote for AMFA is because they know that a lot of the people with the TWU dont vote because they know it wont make a difference. They fear allowing the members access to a vote that will make a difference. Since we know that with the TWU Local Officers are sworn to the International, over and above the members, the members know that regardless of who they vote in it will not make a difference. Should they elect Local leaders who try to make a difference the TWU International will simply remove them from office.

Hmmm...so it's the TWU's fault that the AMFA vote was low. Now I understand....thanks Bob!

Well lets see, when they went into NWA and Alaska the entire Industry was making record profits and they went into SWA just after the mechanics there got an ILC. Ok, they did get into UAL during "hard times" but thats it. All the other elections for AMFA predated the recesion. So much for that claim. Pretty much every AMFA member had the opportunity to choose which union they belong to, in all cases the majority of their peers chose AMFA.

Care to discuss how the TWU gets a large number of their members? The fact is that well over 95% of current TWU members never voted to get the TWU. They were either in place or the company simply recognized them as the bargaining unit after collecting cards for them.

How about the Delta organizing drive? They spent over $2 million on that. What did that that come out to, $10,000 per yes vote?

How about you NW, how did you become a TWU member?

How's that AMFA contract doing at SWA? Another item of proof that even AMFA doesn't trust AMFA's bargaining prowness. They cry about "inheriting" other union's contract and then vote to extend the one they have instead of doing one of ALL AMFA negotiated...someone at SWA must have had a light come on....HAHAHA! You all suck.

Lets see. Extend your contract with a substantial increase in pay or open the contract, cut pay by 17.5%, slash sick time, holidays vacation, doubletime and just about everything else. Hmm, tough choice there for you NW isnt it?

How much will SWA be making in 2008, $400 per week more than us?
