Dallas-Madison, WI is dead 01Oct02. Another dead route. Too bad, because the Dallas-Madison route was definitley one of the more unique ones out there (I doubt Madison has that extensive a network outside of the Midwest). LaGuardia-Norfolk is also gone, 30Oct02. Here is a recap of recently cut/suspended routes since August:
Denver-San Jose
Phoenix-San Jose
Los Angeles-Phoenix
Albuquerque-Los Angeles
Dallas-Savannah
JFK-Caracas
JFK-Rio de Janeiro
Ft. Lauderdale-Raleigh
St. Louis-Waterloo
O''Hare-Bloomington
O''Hare-Duluth
Dallas-Madison
LaGuardia-Norfolk

With all these route deletions, why does AX continue to fly BNA-TRI/ATL? Is there some kind of agreement to fly those routes, or is it for some sort of aircraft positioning? Can't imagine there's much $$$ to be made on the props BNA-ATL vs DL jets?

Have any other ex-TWA or TW Connection/Express routes been axed in the recent months other than STL-ALO? Considering that American Connection is turning around and getting STL-FSM Oct 6, it doesn't appear that there has been much cutting back out of STL. Look for the announcement in STL tomorrow to either be significant work on the existing terminal, or possibly even on the construction of the new terminal proposed with W-1W....

Dallas (DFW) - Madison (MSN) is a shock.

United Express carrier Air Wisconsin recently added another Madison (MSN) flight from Denver (DEN) along with upgrading 3 of the 4 flights to BAe 146s.

What did American operate on the route?

Regards

BNA-ATL supposedly did quite well for Corporate prior to picking up the AA/AX code on it. BNA-TRI has been a huge success since the route was started, and Corporate wants to continue flying it. To my knowledge there is no agreement in place for either flight to be operated. They're just operated because Corporate wants to fly them.

These routes (BNA-ATL/BNA-TRI) were flown by Corporate Airlines on its own well before the AX codeshare agreement came into effect. After the codeshare came into effect, Corporate Airlines decided it was more cost effective and a better marketing strategy to outsource its reservations to AMR. (Corporate Airlines withdrew from the ARC, and shutdown its call center). Now everything is being sold through AMR.

The STL-ALO route was axed after AMR would no longer support continued operation of the route and Corporate Airlines determined that they could not make money flying the route if there was no one else to share the risk. The segment cost is too high relative to the number of seats on the aircraft (19). Trans States declined to substitute a J-41 (30 seats) on the route so therefore it was canned.

Didn't this flight mainly exist to route the West Coast (ex-QQ) MD-80s in and out of Tulsa for maintenance?
Since this sub-fleet is now gone, not surprised that the route is too.
