Are You Willing To Work For Free?

Are you willing to give up your New Year's Eve plans and work for free in PHL as a greeter, ramp age

  • Yes

  • No

    Votes: 0 0.0%

Two points:

1. The company did not say that the volunteers will be paid their normal wages.

2. The duties to be performed by the volunteers, while helpful, will not prevent a reoccurance the Christmas situation. Notice that none of the volunteers work will be preventing bad weather, ensuring that all employees show up to work, or ensuring that baggage gets on the same flight as the passengers.

The wheels are beginning to fall off this bus.

What happened to the third option in this poll,
"Lakefield and Bronner can /#@! Themselves ?

My question exactly, since the removed category was running over 50%, the poll is now clearly skewed.

It would be one thing if your company cared! I put in 12 extra hours at F9 to help out over X-mas and will assist this weekend to for a few FREE hours. I do it because we work together as a team here. We care about the public perception that our dedicated travelers have about F9. Most are surprised to know that folks from different departments come in on their OWN time to see to our customers needs.

But then again WE ALL CARE HERE about FRONTIER and OUR continued success.

Once you elimate the "illegal" votes, your left with what was a close tally of just "Yes" and "No" votes. And the majority view is rendered, "irrelevant".

US Airways Bulletin Board

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Title: SPECIAL BULLETIN FOR 29 DEC 2004
Category: SPECIAL BULLETINS
Start Date: 12/28/2004 End Date: 02/11/2005 Status: 30 Published

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To All Employees ... Please Post ... Special Bulletin

The Associated Press ran a story on Tuesday evening
later picked up by other news media suggesting that
the company was asking employees to "work for free"
in Philadelphia on New Year's Eve. This unfortunate
and erroneous report has many people confused, and we
want to clarify this matter.

We have had management employees in Philadelphia since
last week helping with the baggage backlog. As we
prepare for another busy travel period this coming
weekend, we are asking for employee volunteers from
around the system to come to Philadelphia to help
assist our customers, by greeting them in the airport
ticket counter area, answering questions, serving
coffee and refreshments, helping at security
checkpoints and directing traffic. We know that many
frontline employees have been working extra hard this
past week, and this effort is designed to supplement
that hard work by having extra people on hand to help
our customers.

All employees scheduled to work in Philadelphia and at
other airports around the system will be paid as is
usual and customary, including overtime pay. We have
been getting many offers from employees who want to
help, and this effort will allow them to assist our
customers and provide some support for the Philadelphia
station.

We regret the confusion.

Gee... funny how the media could report erroneously that the company was asking employees to work for free when the company's verbiage in the request was as follows:

“This is a volunteer program. You will not be paid if this is on your day(s) off. It promises to be a rewarding opportunity to learn more about the operation of our airline and come face to face with our customers."

Silly, slanted media.

gee whizz.....might as well burn a sickday and go skiing up vermont..... 😉 B)

The Press was right the first time.

Beat the Hell out of your employees for 3 years, then ask them to work for free. Unbelievable.

Jerry Glass is laughing his a$$ off at the employees. When will it stop?

If Lakefield and Bronner truly want to mend the image of US Airways, the only thing that will work and get media attention is a complete and very public cleaning-house at CCY.

First and foremost, Glass has to go. He exists only to make employees miserable.

I wonder how tarnished that will become after U is extinct.

Management is totally insane and the employees that are willing to work for FREE have completely lost it!

What is noticeably absent in the article is a statement from Lakefield and Bronner saying they and the rest ot the management team will be in to help.
[post="233139"][/post]

Because they won't be at the airport because, if for no other reason, if their identities were known they would be at least verbally attacked by the public. If they were to show up with a bunch of security personnel surrounding them that would provide a very negative photo op.

Just saw Roth the airline analyst on MSNBC news on the working for free crap!

This analyst is OUT OF TOUCH. he feels since the employees has a vested interest they will do it!

When the talking head asked if US will survive-quote" the next couple of weeks should prove to be interesting."
And US will have something for the employees (who work for free, )
down the road.(.yea, another paycut...)--> that's my opinion...

Shortstaffing IS NOT OUR PROBLEM>>>CCY, GET OFF YOU @$$ AND DOIT YOURSELF!
