EITS, with all due respect, I know plenty of people who have filed for personal bankruptcy because of law firm failures and other partnership failures. Through all of their terrible times, they didn't screw over their customers like US did last week.

US1YFARE, no offense, but I never met a law firm that did not screw over its clients in some shape or form. Okay, I am done with the cheap shots if you are.

I agree! It's time for the expensive ones and to hell with this pansy crapola.

Am I missing something or do the 58 people (so far) who voted yes really think they are worth zero $$ per hour?

Do you see management working for free???

you "yes" people really need to get a life and some self worth.

No..its called values and showing some compassion towards our customers.Letting them know we care. From your post you show that you really have no clue what that means.
A few people screwed up the holidays for countless numbers of our loyal customers as well as our hard working employees. I applaud all those that are helping out this weekend. Lets show the public what great people we are here at US Airways.

agreement here with your post...

still find it strange that the ceo

refused to take a paycut,

refering it to a pimple, that it would not matter if he took a paycut,

the financial problem being that big of a problem.

yet these individual employees are steping

up to the plate and volunteering to work..

for free..

senior management must be present

this weekend,on the property, at phl dca and lga

they must show that usairways is responsible

for what happened to their customers,

because it is responsible.

usairways is responsible.

perhaps the ceo will reconsider

his contribution to saving this company

and join the employees in taking a paycut to save this company,

join these employees who are working,

working for free,

every little bit helps...

God bless America

God bless usairways

Just because AP reported it, I don't necessarily believe they expect anyone to work for nothing. I guess anythings possible at this point, but it doesn't make much sense. Sounds like they want volunteers standing by just in case.

This call for volunteers is primarily aimed at management and administrative employees, most of whom are on salary. Since they do not have the requisite training and insurance, they will mostly be working like greeters at a Wal-Mart, handing out free refreshments, helping passengers use kiosks or find their luggage, etc.

I find it very ironic that the freebie volunteers will be handing our refreshments. It's sad that USAirways has already PLANNED to keep people waiting in lines long enough to even NEED refreshments. Why not staff properly so customers don't have to stand in lines so long that they have to be fed and watered?

I think whats really happening is just a desperation act, kinda like throwing as much #### as you can against the wall and hoping some of it will stick! B)

sadly this points out the brutal reality of that UAIR mgmt has no clue what is going on nor how to fix it.

on the broader spectrum it directly amplifies the exact problem with USAIRWAYS the corporation, there has been and continues to be a complete lack of managment skills and abilities from the top down.

and still they refuse to admit it. which is even more amazing. I am not picking on managment at all merely pointing out the facts. there is no plan never was and still remains ellusive. that has nothing to do with those that work the front lines, show up do their jobs, sell the tickets, load the bags, check in the customers, fly the planes, wrench on the planes, service the customer needs, cater, clean and otherwise make the planes go. it has everything to do with the dispursement and utilization of company assests WHICH is manangments ONLY function. I would point to Dr Bronner (as chairman he is ultimately responsible) and Mr. Lakefield as completely inept and unable to manage a small business much less a large one. i question their combined business abilities, i would not want "dr"bronner watching over my retirement money in AL. nor would i want Mr. Lakefield running any kind of business. sadly its the 28000 employees relying on their skills for thier collective livelyhoods.

to fix this airline it is quite simple, hire mangment that will RUN the airline.

i wish the best for those hard workers that continue to endure the ineptitude of others who (it is plain to see) did not achieve thier positions based on their skills and abilities. You really amaze the rest of the industry. while they shake their heads and say yeah USAIR they might be thinking about themselves but there is an unmistakable aire of respect for those that continue to do the job day in day out while putting up with unbelievable circumstances from pay cuts/ benefit cuts/ layoffs/ to the ultimate... we have no plan work for free.

I tip my cap to you all. I hope yet again you are able to defy the odds and rewrite aviation history !

😀

Isn't that the definition of advertising and PR?

It is truly amazing that CCY is so fixated on labor cuts and pay cuts and benefit cuts, that they can see nothing else that is wrong with this company! USair must be the joke of the industry now. To have the GALL to ask anyone to "work for free" just shows the true inept group that is in charge of this asylum.
