If you're not having a melt down, you're either independently wealthy or a complete fool. I personally do not want to have to use a backup career and am disgusted by what the DOJ is attempting to do.

Well be disgusted! The DOJ is doing their job!, since you like reflections the DOJ nixed our first UNITED merger thus no AWA merger with Usairways! Saving your job! Since our merger saved yours causing you not to refelect on your back up career, tread lightly on history , best wishes. MM!

Agreed, there is probably not much that can be done other than acceptance. Once the feeling of total disgust with our current government wears off I'll move on. Thanks for the advice.

Bean

It's still a most worthy notion to consider any/all courses of action that might help, and kudos to you for initiating the idea.

Per: "Once the feeling of total disgust with our current government wears off I'll move on." I can only wish you good luck there, since sadly; that's the one area I personally find gets worse with time, rather than better. I can no longer even sit through an entire presentation of the "news" (from whatever network) anymore. 😉 I was born into a post-war America that was still adding Stars to the Flag, and now live in some strange and earlier unimaginable version of it that contains a "president" that literally BOWS to foreign kings and virtually anyone that comes "his" way....Words just fail me.

I thought United wanted out and used it as an excuse. Just the same, I'll try and keep an open mind. I've had things in the past happen that seemed to be terrible at the time and turned out for the best down the road. I still think the DOJ is overstepping and completely out of line.

Bean

How do you know? I may very well be your next "favorite Captain". Dont spend those pennies yet Slick, the year isn't over yet.

Wonderful..Sigh! So..Got another set of "soon"s to offer up?...Or at least some more "T minus" countdown clocks to start running? 🙂

You are a fool. The first merger saved both airlines, this merger would have stabilized us for the long run. Maybe you don't care , because you're about to retire. If so, you'll be retiring on LOA93. Yes, what a crock.

Bean

Sorry Sir, 15 years left, but been in this way to long to not understand what the NIC does to thousands of USAirways guys and gals. So yes the NIC is much more important than a potential merger.

I know I'm biased, because I'm west, but I have to disagree. Putting it simply, seniority at an airline that goes out of business is worthless. I'm not taking a shot at the old US, I'm referring to US and American as standalones, facing a other airlines that were allowed to merge.
