Great post, given the DOJ this is going to be a long drawn out affair, one has to only look at at the overall political climate of the DOJ and the dynamic this will be fun to watch!

Let's hope that during the long drawn out affair the company does not lose their focus or running the company like they did with the failed United merger. I think the employees should consider that this merger might not happen and restart negotiations as if it won't happen.

That's what I'm thinking. 'Next' will be more of the same for at least a few more years, and even once it get's worked out, the upside will be more limited than it would have been without the merger. I just hope the airline can figure out a way to survive long term. I can live without having the 'mostest' or working for the biggest and best airline that everyone wants to be at(I was happy at AWA, which proves that), but I would like to keep my most fortunate string of continuous paychecks intact.

United wanted out and was praying that the DOJ would come through with a lawsuit to stop it. When the DOJ did, United simply walked away rather than fight it.

This time, Parker wants this way too bad to let it go, and he's the darling of the AA creditors committee, so they just might fight, or concede a lot of assets, to get this done.

If they had not run their drunken mouths (and emails,) this might have gone through a bit easier. Really great strategy to brag about how the merger will allow them to screw the traveling public AND labor.

His prior merger failures- UAL, DAL, he has yet to complete USAirways in entirety. Now AA gets shot down. He does not possess the requirements to consummate a merger.
He should take a shot at Cape Air. He might get that one.
