How many Usair pilots does it take to screw in a light bulb? One, becasuse that is the way we have always done it.
How many PI pilots? 3, one to do the job and 2 to talk about how great the old bulb was.
How many PSA pilots? Nobody knows, they keep calling in sick.
How many AWA pilots? Job never completed, they keep stealing the new bulb for their own use..
RR

How many usapians does it take......only one if he can first find a proctologist to remove the bulb from his arse!

Why did Airbus not offer sheepskin seats on jets like Boeing did? Because Airbus saw the data on how the America West pilots kept climbing into the 737 seats backward.....

Class status recognizes the reality that we have two lists, effectively two separate classes. Each class should be afforded the right to speak on its own behalf, or so I would think. USAPA wants it both ways, separate operations with all of its attendant benefits including the recognition of two separate lists, while at the same time insisting we are all one class when it comes to the issue of DOH. I see a logical disconnect. We never got to joint operations - and that also means we never got to a joint seniority regime. What am I missing?

There is no legal standing to give the western div separate class under the NMB. You have no legal basis for that argument.

Q: How many pilots does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Just one. He holds the bulb and the world revolves around him.

Q: How do you know if a pilot is at your party?
A: He'll tell you.

Q: How do you know when you are half way through a date with a pilot?
A: Because he says: "Thats enough about flying, let's talk about me"!

I still say that if USAPA gave the west class status, neither the company nor Silver would object and the NMB would have no interest in obstructing what could be, at long last, a solution to this six year dispute.

Those of you who continue to spin the DOH or nothing approach as a sure USAPA victory, all I can say is, this will be the first one.

And RR, this conversation should be of no interest to you since the merger is dead, right?

USAPA "giving" a subset of its members legal standing to oppose USAPA's representational efforts/obligations of all its members? I can't even begin to list the legal can of worms such a move would open.

Then we have no basis to submit two lists under M/B, but I bet we will, because otherwise it's ripe. Two lists, separate ops, separate pay, separate contracts, sounds like two separate classes to me.

But what do I know since I don't have a clue.

Already have dumbshot.

Let's see one was CAL, and not very happy about the SLI. The other was UAL and said he could not believe the east holes were still as big of ef ups as they were in 2000 only way worse, and stupid enough to think they could get out of binding arbitration by voting in a new union.

Most of the time I never bring up LCC's dirty laundry, but it always seems to come out when the OAL jumpseater says so how things going with the West ans their case against the idiots!

Last DL jumpseat rider I had apologized for ALPA merger policy and said he hated to see "such a bunch of scumbags like AWA pilots get a windfall." No shite. The really crazy part is I defended you guys because of about half a dozen west guys that I know and respect. Not you.

I have no doubt that USAPA will represent me contrary to how I would. Should I get to represent myself?

What do you call a subset of pilots who work under a different contract, pay, equipment and domicile from the rest of us?

I'm thinking of a word that rhymes with brass.

Legal can of worms? YGTBSM, we live on a worm farm.

Hey, whoever voted this post down.........bite me. I swear that is what he said and I swear I defended the west pilots. If the truth hurts, so be it.

On April 17, 2008 I would call that subset "ALPA"

On April 18, 2008 I would call that subset "USAPA"

What part of USAPA and ALPA are both "National" unions do you not get? Our BPR is the same class and status as the BOD is at ALPA. Gary Hummel has the same representational status with the NMB as the President of ALPA.

ALPA has more than one pilot group under its wing, all with different contracts, pay, equipment, and domiciles...as does USAPA. In mergers among ALPA carriers ALPA represents BOTH airlines, using its OWN merger policy..as does USAPA. And to add “in the end” it is the ALPA President that signs the documents implementing its own policies, INCLUDING seniority lists! I am still thrilled today we got out of ALPA without Prater taking over both unions and signing our contracts for us. ALPA can STILL do that, they are NOT under M/B. In mergers absent two ALPA carriers, M/B is the methodology. Were the failed merger to go forward, APA would represent the American pilots, and USAPA would represent the AWA and U pilots. Both are National unions, both will argue for their members at M/B according to their own CBL's. Again, yet another supposed member who has not bothered to read the legal filings (of all parties.)
